Marriage Quest finally on the horizon! Yay!

I remember in EQ, when you wanted to get married, you had your guild get together and you called a GM - who at our wedding gave out cookies and milk... which was kind of funny. It was all very personalized, and there was none of this junk at issue. They would also change your last names to match if you wanted.

In the beginning you didn't even have that. I remember having to wing it and carry out a few ceremonies as guild leader followed by a party and a brawl in the Arena off Lake Rathe. That said, I was married in Felwithe by a GM who shot off fireworks and supplied the booze and munchies and then promptly lost my ability to visit the city after my first PoG raid. Can you imagine players in this game finding a raid had caused them to be kill on sight with entire factions barring access to zones?

OMG, I remember friends wedding like that! fireworks over Felwithe - how wonderful!!!

I also had a friend that was agnostic and really enjoying POG raids (HELF Magician)... oh he was awful. I had to stay outside of the raid with my cleric and my druid and I would rezz any dead folks- but no touchy the cute animals, or Tunare would get mad.

The best was telling the guy at the tree you wanted "phat lewts" and he would keel j00 =-P

I have to assume you've never read any books, watched any tv shows or movies, or generally gone outside and observed couples in real life. Heterosexuality is everywhere.

I guess it would be since the overwhelming majority of creatures that reproduce sexually are heterosexual. Why is this a problem for you?

Heterosexuality isn't a problem for me at all. But it is hypocritical to tell homosexual couples that they're "flaunting" their sexuality by wanting to do the same things heterosexual couples do.

It makes me believe that if anything, countries outside Japan hold it back and not necessarily Japan.

Those subjects are extremely niche and don't make up a large percentage when you consider the sheer volume of anime and manga (including doujinshi) that comes out each year. The only possible exception to this is yaoi, but you have to understand the actual audience it's intended for and who it's usually created by; heterosexual women. And fujoshi aren't any more socially accepted than otaku.

I have noticed a fair amount of guest appearances of crossdressers/transexuals on Japanese variety shows, but I feel like they do it more for the shock factor or exposition rather than actual acceptance.

One of the dumbest things to put into a video game.

Me and my GF were playing Grand Fantasia and Eden Eternal. They made a huge event for marriage, a GM was there, he even asked if we want to fight any hard bosses as a wedding gifts, with lots of fireworks and such ^^

It was very nice, all our Guild was there, we beat down the boss (died multiple times) and..

The wedding system was such that you got buffs while being close to each other (str/int bonuses), in the same party, doing quest together, and.. free teleporting to him/her.

You had to collect hearts to get skills (there was 4 I believe, teleport (cost a lot), str buff, int buff, xp buff +10% while being together.)

If they ever implant that type of system, instead of only weeding gown and cosmetics, I'm all up for it, and happy.

It doesn't make the majority maybe, but large precentage? I certainly disagree. Though not me neither you have numbers to show for it, I go by what I randomly come by seeing as it is my hobby and I don't peculiary search for that stuff and genres.
And doujinshi is usually full of the stuff seeing as the fans take set characters and change the story to fit their own (fantasies XD). It doesn't matter for who it's intended as all the kinds probably play this game.

I do agree all that is not an outcome of acceptance, but that doesn't really matter. because that's the outcome.
