T often gets lumped in with L/G because a straight woman who happens to have been born with a male body, but who still falls in love with male people, is popularly perceived as gay; a straight man who happens to have been born with a female body, who falls in love with female type people is often seen as lesbian.

Unfortunately, it's also true that a gay woman who was born with a male body is often seen as taking the long road home.

In short, LGB is about who one falls in love with; T is about who one is. They are only tangentially related.
