PS4 doesn't operate on DX11. It's a different API that has equivalent features. PS4 is nearly identical to the PC version on maximum settings settings. Yoshida only mentioned that the the processing of the shadows is slightly different. The PC directx 11 version will be different that will include more features available from DX11. He did mentioned using shadow, lighting and reflections features. I don't if he mentioned any other features that it will use.

I'm glad to hear that it's is aimed for before years end. I was expecting it next year based on previous comments.
I don't think dx11 will be as awesome as it could be in ffxiv, but it's a better than nothing deal. I also fully expect quite a few bugs out of it for awhile. I do remember at one point they had mentioned hi res textures, but the was renegged into lighting effects. I just wish the terrain in the distance would be touched up. That ceiling in T1 is absolutely atrocious.
