"and maybe kind of magic", Oh like anima. That's what I think.
It feels like a cheating tool to jump to different places.
It's an atmosphere killer in this game.
Why should I use cool mounts like ships and airships or chocobos to travel when I can teleport whenever I want. Why do the people of Eorzea have the ability to teleport while they have 'anima'? The game has great graphics and a great beautiful (copy-paste :P) world. Let the player enjoy it. The possibility of fast traveling is okay, but it has to fit with the world and make sense (like chocobos, airships and maybe kind of magic?).
this whole idea is just a time sink and would make forming partys take much longer. i enjoy being able to put a group together in less then 30 minutes.
So why not making it an instanced game with a town. You know... a lobby, and a dungeon? You're bound to make parties easily, after all everyone who's in the lobby is available...
I've seen ton's of MMOs that do that. Really cheap to do as well. FF14 just shouldn't be that type of game.
as of now the world is bland and boring, SE knows this and plans to redo the entire map. Until then i have no desire to explore beings that it all looks the same.So why not making it an instanced game with a town. You know... a lobby, and a dungeon? Also, beings that anima is not free and recharges slowly to preserve i do run shorter distances when required.
It really isn't that much of a time sink. 2-5 minutes at most? It depends on your location.
There are so many aetherytes around I don't understand why it wasn't made like that in the first place.
to be honest, i used to think the same thing until i realized the game is bland and boring. When they redo the map introduce mounts and airships i will gladly agree with you.
