I wholly disagree with OP. The way fates are currently setup may deserve tweaks, but they are still very solid parts of the game and I appreciate the way that they have been implemented thus far.

The first thing happens all the time, yes, only the CS Rep doesn't really need to ask them to. Customers are the most opinionated people, as your post shows.
I cannot attest to the second thing, though that is actually a function of a management position. Generally in a specific context.
So, basically, you're just blindly attacking without really adding any value.
