i smell Red MageNot to be overly negative, but I'd still like to see how that one is going to be explained. Bit of a stretch going from a guy that considers himself an "entertainer" in an arena that fights for money to something like this。
Uh oh....
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
Heh, the one thing my entire being in this game hinges on, and the risk of getting more of the same crap from FFXI is still there. Funny, too, seeing that it'd indicate all those melee discussions on the NA and JP sides on the matter throughout the years have been completely ignored.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Or they could work in a job-unlock quest angle in which they "see the light" and become holy warriors or at least knights. Once again, not hard.
It would be a lot of work (understatement) to retcon the lore behind the Classes, but it wouldn't be without precedent. Technically, every Final Fantasy title is a retcon of another Final Fantasy. Naoki Yoshida could theoretically use that excuse to make whatever changes necessary.
1.20 . . . wow. When will that be?
Seems like we wont get jobs till this winter.
The devs have stated after 1.18 and the initial core reworking, that patches are going to be much faster in succession. The earthquake in Japan pushed the original deadline of "end of summer" to about the end of September. So I would put my 2 cents down everything Yoshidasan spoke of in the battle plan to be released by then, including jobs.
Lets face it the whole "lore" of the current class is what 3 quests each it wouldn't take much to rewrite them. Maybe that once the coming threat emerges the class story changes and they take a more noble route for GLA.
