Wow, what am I even reading?

...American cartoons? Really? Social networks are about the same as giving someone a noose and letting them hang themselves. That's more attune to not having a shred of common sense than being directly influenced by anything.

I was in Crystal Tower last night and during the Bone Dragon, a Black Mage just starts laying into all of the skeletons with AOEs (triple flare, according to the Alliance chat). A tank in another group said, word for word, "[character name], let the tanks get the skeletons into position before you unleash triple flares." The response, which I found so hilarious because it was SO unnecessarily hostile, was "what am i supposed to do dumbass? get off your period im used to doing this on my monk."

I am fairly certain that the anonymous nature of the internet and a uniform lack of common courtesy while using it are a cause of this, not because of American cartoons. You realize that this sort of categorization is what causes gamers to have such terrible reputations in the first place, right?

Back on topic, I will make my greetings and maintain a polite and amiable atmosphere in all parties. For whatever reason, I enjoy this game despite having a deep-rooted hatred for MMOs in general. Naturally, when you throw other people into things (yes, I am directly referencing Crystal Tower), there are are ton of terrible possibilities. People on the internet want to point blame and call names and claim superiority and I really just want to get things done. Therefore, instead of waiting for things to go south, I try to control the situation; try to be polite, offer assistance instead of pointing blame.

That Crystal Tower run was possibly the longest one I'd ever done, but we got through it. There was a lot of downtime while things got explained, but wiping was kept to a minimum (I think there was 1 wipe on Atomos due to a DC and 1 on King Behemoth) but people were working together despite some obvious troublemakers and loudmouths.

Either make an effort to set the mood, take charge, or deal with the consequences. You can't please everyone. If this is too intimidating, or if you get unnerved by every scumbag you run into, you may want to restricting your party content to guildmates.

Did an Amdapor run last night; horrible. Tank and healer kept arguing over doors when I (MNK) clearly stated I was handling doors. Healer kept saying "if I mark doors then I get to have the loot." To which everyone replied "hell no." And I kept getting the doors, but healer was under the impression that they were, so they ended up screwing up my markings. Took at least 4 tries to finally get it done. Tank and healer kept bitching at each other, even after.

The run after that was a breeze when the party just let me handle the doors. Hell, tank and healer ended up dying so BRD and I ended up finishing off Diabolos.

The best thing you can do is to indeed kick them and search for a new member asap, sadly.
By not doing so you're also putting yourself and the others that do want to run at a disadvantage because he certainly won't be happily running the rest of the dungeon with you nor will he leave on his own if you refuse to kick.

It's a lose/lose situation either way, with the votekick (+report if you even want to bother) being your best option.

I found your style of speech to be offensive - culture of arguing about everything (especially opinions). It is easy to find something said that is either opinion or not entirely correct and argue over it, but is it either a joke (a funny one, not insulting) or a contribution to the discussion? This is also true about social networks where people try to defend the majority-accepted opinion ("there may be only one truth") about a certain topic by a quite rude way of arguing (trying to prove each other to be wrong).
Now many people think that being rude means being cool (i will punch you like a badass, i will speak to you like a badass). Probably many think that being rude means being convincing and successful - this does not work when dealing with mature people, thus only conclusion i have is it was advertised to younger audience through some kind of teen-oriented media. This later led to the culture of arguing over everything.
I do lack courtesy and am anonymous over internet to a certain point, but neither me or people i communicate with use the offensive speech. If you say it's common among other groups - i think it's not because they are in the internet. But because there is some other very major factor that causes this, yet that factor is so common noone notices it.
But is is just my guess and i am not sure if it is correct or not. Only thing i am sure is that many people communicate in an unproductive way.

I was doing Hard Brayflox from the first time yesterday with 2 friends of mine, the party was a healer, dragoon, bard, and warrior. I told the tank this was my first time in this dungeon, and the healer did as well. Apparently the tank wanted to do a speed run. WE wiped a couple of times, and everything was ok until the boss fight, no one bothered to explain the stragey of beating it, then the tank got a bug up his or her butt, we wiped 3 times.

    I have a question

Why do crappy players pick to play tank classes? I just dont get it?

Gear nazis and gil sellers are alike in one aspect, they both are useless.

When you hit need on an item for use, be it stats or glamour, you're actually going to use it on your current job. Other people can't need it over you(outside of same role/class) for that very reason. But when you take an item, that everyone earned, for something anyone could use it for, ie seals, it looks greedy. If I want something for use or perhaps Glamour, I'll need on it. Never for seals, i'll greed on it, even if I can need, that way everyone else who wants it for the same reason has a fair shot at it.
I understand where you're coming from, I will greed on most things even if I can need just because it's only seals and I already rack up a bunch of them by doing normal things. However, there is nothing "greedy" about rolling Need on an item. It is a bonus you get for rolling as that class, no more, no less. If they are taking those items from someone that could actually use it, sure, it's not the greatest thing. But no one has any more "right" to the gear than anyone else in the game. The party helped take down the boss, the party can roll on all the loot (with priority given to class/job).

    It does sound, as some people have suggested, that the person was unhappy to have landed in Pharos on their Roulette run, so made an excuse to ask for a kick. A bad one ^^;

Well, I find your style of speech (and grammar) to be offensive. You can't just assert all of this based on how they come off to you. I am still scratching my head as to why you think American Cartoons are the reason for rude attitudes.
Also, you're not exactly being productive yourself. This isn't exactly graded debate in a culture class here.
