I was going to post this. Thank you.Every time one of these threads pop up, I have this in a text file to end the thread.
There was already a major reference to FFVII made in XIV. Nael van Darnus, the Legatus of the VIIth(Get it?) Legion is essentially Sephiroth. He believed himself to be a descendant of the Allagan(Ancients) and wanted to use Meteor to cleanse the world for his people. In place of silver hair, he had silver armor. There was even a scene in Ver. 1.0 where Nael is walking away in a sea of flames similar to Sephiroth's Nibelheim scene.
So no, no more VII references will be made based solely on the fact that they already used up their VII card. Can we please give this up now?
Let XIV be its own game.
If you want forced crossover fanservice and butchering of each game's lore, play Dissidia.
I am the only one that feel people should understand this is FFXIV not some cross-over mmorpg?
Guess you guys shouldn't use your Magitek Mounts, raid CT, etc etc, because that is all fanservice.
^ Your lash out response is no better someone telling you to go play VII.
XIV has plenty of VII fan service as it is. I can see some more mild references in the future, but not something major like Jenova. Who knows though, can't predict the future.
I'm not lashing out, I just don't understand wehre the logic is in insinuating that my idea is stupid because it's fanservice, when there are a number of references and content in the game that were included for the sole purpose of fanservice.
Like I said, I can see the argument both ways, but the attitiude and hostility of some of these responses just because it doesn't align with someone elses opinion of how the game should be makes no sense at all.
As I stated earlier, this was merely an idea, if someone doesn't like it, say why or move on to the next thread, no need to belittle or indirectly insult other people because they do not see eye to eye with you.
Really ? (actually, I never even tried sephiroth. heard after that is was the hardest boss in game. Bah)
Secret of mana would be cool as an event if they took the time to get a well fitting lore (Julius would be awesome maybe.. sword of mana <3). But not as a definitive boss in game. Seiken =/= FF
Final Fantasy is built upon reusing old stuff.
Chocobos
Espers/Guardians/Summons - Ifrit, Bahamut, Shiva, Ramuh ect
Pheonix downs, potions, ect.
Airships
Cid
All kinds of monsters
Materia/Magicite
Crystals
Moogles
and probably a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember because I'm about to go home and I don't care. What that means is the people saying this should stand on it's own do not have a leg to stand on. All FF's reference each other. Just keep that in mind when some one wants something from a previous series.
"You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
Yes, those exist throughout the series but each incarnation is different. The Cid here isn't the same Cid from other games, and not every Cid had an airship or was a tech genius. There is a version of Gilgamesh that has made appearances in multiple games but he is not the only Gilgamesh. Chocobos serve the same purpose in every appearance but never look the same.
That these things exist in every installment is no excuse to disregard the lore of this game and copy/paste the characters from another. That seems to be what was asked for instead of a unique incarnation that is reminiscent of the original but not the original itself.
