Hey, I have a question. I'm main monk and I know the job near perfectly, except for what I'm going to ask : I've seen many posts in this thread reporting that SS is the worst stat for a monk to stack because of the TP starvation on fights like Titan EX/Twintania/Rafflesia and because it is the stat that gives the less DPS increase overall.
I'm sitting at 356 SS ATM, the less I can have and I always have been fine with it. However I see a lot of people (on reddit, on this link : http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...peed_question/ ) saying that SS is what benefits the most to monks. Is it true ?

PS : Sorry for my english, it's not my native language.

Compared to other classes MONK definately scales with SS comparatively well, but even with the pretty good scaling our stat weights value SS about the same as CRIT. The problem with SS compared to Crit as you said is that TP starvation can be an issue in some fights (T8 in particular), since CRIT and SS are valued approximately the same for Monks any situation where TP becomes an issue the value of SS decreases. In fights where you don't SS/CRIT value is the same so the theoritical BiS is any set that can maximise your DET.

SS is the best stat for any dps (yes even DRG) but thing is,you DONT have infinite TP so it's way too risky and it need too much SS to be fully efficient.SO yeah it's a greeat stat in theory.Only in Theory.

Mathematically, SPEED is the best 2ndary stat for all dps except BRD and SMN. DET might be better in some cases but DET is hard to calculate since I have not found a reliable source that shows how much damage it adds point per point. Have not calculate ACC but despite what people think, missing 1 attack out of 1000 may not be that significant at all, unless you're tank, and especially for MNK who's combo do not reset on a miss.

I don't really agree that stacking SPEED makes you TP starve significantly faster. In situations where you're TP starved, you're gonna be TP starved no matter what, stacking SPEED will only get you there a bit faster. If SPEED does make you TP starve significantly faster, it must be giving you so many extra attacks that the damage it adds must be significant; however, the fact is that 2ndary stats don't add a whole lot.
