Me and several other people who completed atma think that this whole grind was created solely as an excuse to repopulate failed fates (on my server almost noone was doing them except coertas area). Probably SE will dramatically increase drop and spawn rate of fates because currently noone likes the way they work.
EX primals (except garuda) were just designed bluntly ignorant for western market (west is not japan where everyone probably have similar low ping) and i see no solution to this.
But there are much more serious matters that destroy high and endgame, such as too fast progression and echo buff. I think a large part of SE playerbase will stay around just to kill time, but leave as soon as any other decent mmo comes out.
Story past 2.0? Only primals keep reviving again and again, because they are immortal and will revive... again.
New dungeons? Amdapor City, can run it once or twice and forget.
Coil is too hard for randoms and comes into what i call a destroyed endgame (like tanks in ex primals/coil who would only use FoF or berserk).
But i keep playing because there are a plenty of ways to deal with these issues (for now). SE will either understand what shift in the play style it caused and correct it (i highly doubt) or keep casualing everything and making profit on game box sales instead of subscriptions.
