This is not a test of skill... it is really an experiment on self delusion.
Weren't you just posting about how people saying getting their ATMA makes them superior are wrong? How do you shift from that from insinuating you're superior because you've seen past the veneer to the *real* truth? Honestly, I know it's luck, I didn't mind, I liked it. Part of that is not having abysmal luck. If you have totally abysmal luck you'll tend to not enjoy luck based games. Though all this crap about it being skill-less and no one who gets it really deserves it, it's just sour grapes. This style of content has been around a long time, posting some random wikipedia article like you've cracked the code is ridiculous. I understand you're upset but you're probably traveling beyond how bitter you should be about this grind. Granted it's only natural you'd get more bitter if you're taking as much troll bait on this forum as you were earlier today.

You cannot create a hypothetical 12 hour+ skill based grind, you know you can't. Having things be luck based is just a common tool in making something be scarce. I think it's preferable to a straight treadmill and agree there probably should have been some drop rate adjustment code to stop players from having 700 fates without a drop, but this unfocused belly aching about RNG in general is just silly.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

Maybe a hybrid system, with both random and guaranteed drop
Still random drop from FATEs, but with a 100% drop if you did the 250th FATE with a Zenith weapon in the zone.

Like it was with the relict quest during 1.0 and the 17 minute speedrun to get the quest items from Cutters Cry and Aurun Vale with a 100% chance.

Naoki Yoshida states that the Zodiac Weapons are a form of upgraded Relic Weapon which will take a considerable amount of time to complete, and will be upgraded in the form of phases in each patch. Yoshida goes on to mention that not many players will have the first phase completed before the second one launches in 2.25, and that this is a very overtime goal for players to work on and that their viability as future weapons will remain for some time.
If this means that the weapon from the end result in 2.25 is better/equal to the High Allagan weapons, is it time for the hardcore raiders to complain that their weapon is too weak and should be stronger than something that someone grinded for instead? I feel like SE doesn't win in either case because someone is always going to dislike the system.

The RNG part of it is going to cause both extremes to occur simply by how RNG works. Some people are going to get lucky and get stuff done very quickly. RNG can work as long as it's on a controlled scale, though I'm not really sure how controlled this is. At least in a loot table you know your full range of options.

Whether or not this continues probably depends on the server populations and who's where in terms of quest work as well as which populations are willing to go through this multiple times.

The logic in that really isn't that difficult to grasp.
Poor phrasing on my part, there. I didn't mean to imply that it was somehow a lesser issue as it most certainly isn't and I'm glad to see that steps are being taken to correct it. My issue is that they chose to respond to those complaints damn near immediately, but after several weeks and thousands of posts between the the Japanese and Western communities all complaining about the same thing, there hasn't been a single word spoken by the dev team to address people's concerns. At this point, I'd even be happy with a canned "Working as intended, deal with it."

I'm not saying that! No, not at all! I am saying that anyone that does the quest technically "deserves" it. Whether or not they are rewarded with it is completely random- so to make arguments that those who have not gotten it yet "don't deserve it"... or to disparage them or their skills is completely unjustified, imo.

It's like a conversation about two people sitting at slot machines, one wins one doesn't... does one deserve it more than the other? Not really- they both played the game.

So, if you want to crystallize my opinion on who deserves the weapon, I would say everyone that has it, and many of the people who don't. That's just RNG for ya =-/

I apologize if I was putting words in your mouth. It just seems like there are number of posts where people are just trying to somehow diminish anyone who has the weapon. I realize you were referring to certain posters who are perhaps giving themselves a little too much credit. Though I still maintain that you should remember that guys like that are really the minority. I got my Atma, luck played a roll, I'm happy I got it, and I feel good about it and I feel like I accomplished something. It's no more than that.

Just because some guy on the slots next to you said you're losing because you're not trying hard enough doesn't mean you call the next guy who wins while sitting next to you an asshole. I feel like a lot of that is going on right now on the forums. It's an especially contentious issue, because people seem under-informed about how soon it's going to receive a nerf and think they're fighting for some kind of hotfix that would come before that. Of course they won't hotfix something that has a planned nerf coming at the end of the month.

I think what's more going on is the people who trivialize the complaints by saying "I got mine, therefore it is fine how it is" are the ones being called out. I personally haven't seen anyone saying (not sarcastically) that anyone with an Atma is an "asshole" or any other real insult. Though in game I have heard people refer to them as no-lifers but that's a different beast all together.

    Just my two cents

I hate the Atma farming as well. It's not realistic. People have work and school and lives and PAY to play a game that is making it almost impossible to achieve a goal. I'm not saying to make it easier, but how is it fair that a fellow player got all his Atmas in 24 hours and I have 1 after doing this for nearly 7 days now. I spent 12 hours in one zone doing same fates, sometimes missing them because there farther away, with the appropriate weapon and I have nothing to show for it. It makes me want to pull my hair out. This is the same reason i left FFXI. This is sadictive and boring. It's so boring I find that it's not worth the $14 a month. maybe do a 60 fate limit or something, after doing 60 fates....maybe just let us HAVE one?

I hate buying loto as well. It's not realistic. I'm not saying to make it easier, but how is it fair that a fellow better got his jackpot in one betting and I've only won one after betting 7 times? It makes me want to pull my hair out. This is the reason I quit gambling. This is boring, it's so boring that I find it's not worth the money. Maybe do a 60 bet limit or something, after betting 60 times, maybe just let us strike the jackpot once?

Anything got to do with RNG... is never fair.
