im not a fan of speedruns.

See, I see that as an entirely separate issue. A whole different mistake the devs made. It may be a part of the reason for today's speed runs, but again it's not the first time players have abused the duty finder. To Synra, I understand and agree with your frustration. But in pre-made groups 2-boss SRs have their place. Your suggested fixes would make the Atma/Animus upgrade process even more difficult, and it is bloody awful as it is. I agree SRs in DF have no place unless the whole group wants it. But don't throw out the baby with the bath water.
- In 2.0 people speed ran CM for Phils, and to a lesser degree, Amdapoor Keep for Myths.
- In 2.1 people abused the "join in progress" function on CT runs in an effort to nit pick which bosses they had to fight.
- In 2.2 people are now speed running Brayflox.
What will 2.3 contribute to this problem? The changes I suggested above are necessary on a broader scale. It is time for the devs to put an end to Duty Finder abuse.
As for the Weapon Quest, I think we can all agree that the devs really dropped the baby in this case. It just doesn't even make any sense that books would be priced the way they are. If Relic +1 cost 900 Myths, why wouldn't "Relic +2" cost us 900 soldiery? Each book should cost 100 soldiery and we would then be able to complete one weapon per two weeks, instead of buying armor. It shouldn't cost Myths at all. People should be spending their Myths on armor and Thanavarian Mist, not these books.
Premade groups should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want. If Flox HM is 50 myth in ten minutes then all the more power to them. For many players, pushing the limits of a speedrun is the only interesting thing left to do with 4mans, because they've seen the content so many times and don't want to autopilot through it.
What's not acceptable is using the duty finder to screw over other players. There should be a serious punishment for players who deliberately go AFK/Offline to get votekicked in DF runs, especially since the DF is basically explicitly made for casual group forming.
Dear SE-
Please do not rejigger the tome drops in Bray just because of a few bad apples.
-Your playerbase who likes speedruns through party finder.

So much this! I tank and I do speedrun, but never in the Duty Finder. I will say it and if nobody says anything in reply to my asking (yes, asking, not telling) I will speedrun and gauge if the healers and DPS can handle it. If not, of course it's a wipe, restart, slow down.I have literally refused to do Brayflox HM after reading this and after experiencing it myself today.
Me and my friend queue up, him as WHM, me as my DRG like always. Run starts, everyone says hi (except the tank of course), we start going, then the tank just runs around flashing EVERYTHING in the first area all the way up until the first coeurl, and me, the bard, and my friend all are spamming our biggest AoEs trying to kill them all, while my friend is frantically trying to heal the tank. We get through that thankfully, and while me and my friend were grumbling about it in FC chat, we still continued on, since we had managed to do that well enough. We continue on, tank AGAIN pulls all the mobs from the Coeurl patrol to the first boss, THEN pulls the boss as well, which started the countdown.
I didn't even realize he'd pulled the boss until I was suddenly locked out and getting beat on by the mobs that got locked out as well. I ended up dying and just went back to the start and waited, while asking the tank if next time he could just announce he was going to do a full pull to the boss area, since NONE of us knew what he was doing until just then. The guy had not spoken a word at all, no "hey guys I wanna speedrun this", no "hey guys I'm gonna pull all the mobs so get ready", just silently goes in and pulls every single mob and then gets one of the dps locked out of the first boss while they struggle to stay alive because my friend's mp is going down fast due to the constant spam heal.
When both me and my friend start pointing out to him WHY it's always a good idea to announce your intentions for the run before it starts, after the tank questions why he'd even need to, he starts going nuts on us like "but why wouldn't you speedrun, that gets you the most myth and soldier fast" and no matter what we told him about WHY you need to at least ANNOUNCE when you're speedrunning, he just kept being a bullheaded idiot about it. I finally kicked him after my friend begged me to in FC chat, and we got a new tank who I thought would be good at first, since he at least said hi when he got in.
Wrong. He also pulled the entire area after the first boss, and tried to tank all of it in a small alcove. Needless to say, the gliders kept hitting my friend, and so he died, which meant no heals, so we all died. He asked the tank to not do that, and the tank began to comply at first, but after two sets of mobs, he just ran around and aggro'd everything again. Had the bard not been popping MP song and TP song when needed, we would have died again from that pull. When we brought this up, the tank was just like "but we didn't". As if that's any excuse?
Seriously, I already dislike tanks on principle since 90% of the ones I've run into in every game before, including this one, have been prima dona drama queens who think they rule the world just because they're a tank. This Brayflox idiocy is making me hate tanks even more, as well as hate even trying to do the run without 3 friends alongside me.

Thus far, I have not had too much a problem. The only person who left my parties have been DD's. As a healer, my only worry is if the tank leaves. I'm sure now that after I've mentioned this it'll happen to me. But I do feel for the DD's who have waited for the DF and then have to cancel because healer/tank leave and that party is broken.
this happened to me for the first time last night. DR get Brayflox hm. Tank leaves right after second boss. The other three of us needed the sold tomes. on the one hand, its ridiculously stupid, inconsiderate, rude, and abusive for some tank to use the DF for speed runs and leave the rest of the party out to dry because he can't be bothered to spend a few more minutes to finish the dungeon. on the other hand, I can't blame him for abusing the system. the tank had his atma curtana and was clearly only interesting in farming myth. SE created a myth grind, created a quick way to get 50 myth, and created no incentive for the myth grinding tank who can get insta-q to stay the entire dungeon.

Can't blame him for getting reported either. Since that's what he wanted to wash down that successful gluttonous myth farm dinner.this happened to me for the first time last night. Just some pointers:
1) Learn to read people. Are they antsy to run off and not wait for buffs or do they wait for them? This can tell you things about the person. If they are going to be a trouble maker or not. Learned this very early on when leveling WHM (which is my main). Told me in 2 seconds who was going to be a mutton head during the run.
2) Learn the norm for a zone. I learned to EXPECT a speed run in WP. I learned to EXPECT a speed run in Longstop (hard). This alone is the best thing you can do.
3) Open YOUR mouth. If the tank says nothing YOU say something. Say if you want to do a speed run. Say you if you don't.
Yes people should be considerate of others and voice what they are going to do and not just assume. But there are a large amount of people out there that don't care and no amount of ranting about it will change anything. Learn to adapt or put things in your favor.
Does that mean not doing DF anymore? Maybe it does. I hate Pharos. I get it in DF. I just bite my tongue and go with it. Its one DF a day and I might not even get it every time. I just deal with it. Once its done I queue up what I want to do and go to town. This how I look at any craptacular DF zone or party. Only have to do it once a day. Hell I even skip days because I don't want to deal with it. I just seek on a specific zone or PF.
And again. I really hope SE does not screw over those of us who don't do this stupid crap in DF.
People shouldn't have to sacrifice DR rewards in order to avoid idiotic selfish players.
I didn't say the tank should go without being reported.
There has to be some sort of solution that minimizes or penalizes to a greater extent this kind of behavior. Unfortunately, nothing SE can do will fix the selfish, inconsiderate, and rude behavior of its players. There has to be some solution that still allows PF parties to do their speed runs but stops DF players from treating the DF like their own personal myth SR at the expense of the other players.
