Can you change server/world? Oceanic server?

    Hi!

I'm new to the game and as such randomly joined a server when I started without any research beforehand; which I now realise was a mistake.

I joined Cerberus (because I'm a huge ME fan) and am level 8 but because I'm in Australia, no one is on when I am. I've had to try Fate's by myself which are impossible. I'd like to have people in my time zone to play with but don't know how. My fiancé also has a character and did the same thing, but he joined Zordiac?

We tried to find an option in game but want to keep our existing characters, not have to start all over again. Google said I had to apply for a server change and pay $18. Is that right? Do I have to pay a fee just because I'm new and just jumped in head first?
I'm hoping not, as that seems a little unfair...?

And if I can transfer worlds, are there a particular worlds/servers that other Aussies are in, so that there will be other people playing when I am?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Leave your server now and join the one you want before it's too late. You're only level 8

Im not sure which server hosts the most Oceanic players, but as you're only lvl 8 I'd cut your losses and start over :/ a bit of a rough welcome but better than having to pay an extra $20

    what he said

Lvl 8 don't bother much because transfer is a paid service. At your level just create a new character.

On the other subject you can do a search in forums oceanic servers, oceanic players.

For example you could find this post about an oceanic Free Company

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-%28Oceanic%29

there are others just posting 1st I found

I agree with what others have said, level 8 isn't too far in so it's not so bad to start again ^^

I'm in Australia too, on Tiamat~ a lot of our English players have transferred servers though to Tonberry. It has a high English/oceanic player base, I suggest you move there

    Welcome!

From what I understand, the two servers most Australians/Oceanic players have gone for is Masamune (Legacy) and Tonberry (ARR) - both servers are part of the Japanese server group, due to Australia being physically closer to the JP data centre than the NA/EU one.

So any JP server would be better for latency, but language can still be an issue, but the Auto-translate function does go a long way at helping overcome communication difficulties. Incidentally I'm Australian too (I live on the west coast though in Perth), and I play on a JP Legacy server (Ridill, which my server in 1.0 as well ), and my FC and LS still have quite a few English speakers in our ranks. My local time is around the also around the same time zone for Japan (my local time is one hour behind Japanese time), so that also helps a lot with finding people to do stuff, although European and American players who are on the server may not be active at the same time naturally, due to this time zone discrepancy.

But it's still worth looking into if you're having troubles finding people to play around your local time.
