I seem to remember SE having the stance of "Meh" if your account gets hacked without using a token. They back up their authenticator in the way that if your account does get hacked and you have an authenticator, they'll give you back everything you lose.

PS4/3 users have 3 factors. PSN account, SE account, token.

It in no way prevents the Username/PW from being logged into on mog station, registered with a key for the PC version and used through PC. Again it is farfetched but bottom line is that playing on a console does not prevent Username and PW fraud.

Oh, and I work for the Fraud Department at a bank, you know that Zero liability to the accountholder for Fraud charges? Where do you think that money comes from? It comes from the Victim's bank. The more this is done, the more rates have to go up on that bank's products and the more benefits have to be cut. First of all, your most likely using your PC to log into the forums, a simple key logger could pick that up just as easily as logging into the game client.

Also, it's helpful in preventing other methods of attack, such as intercepting that data; similar to what we saw with the Heartbleed bug.

As many have said, the weakest link in this chain of security is the Mog Station, not the console you use to play the game. With barely any effort you could wind up inadvertently giving away your account login info, be it through malware hidden in a download or a fake redirect site linked to in a phishing email. No PSN involved in any step of that. In fact, PSN's only involvement is as a verifier to prove you bought the PS3/4 version so that you can play on said consoles. Really, I'd call the PSN link more an unnecessary annoyance given XI didn't need anything like it, but to call it a 'layer of security' is erroneous belief. The tokens are the only other layer of security beyond the strength of your password, and an external one at that. In order for someone to crack that they first have to get the algorithm it uses to generate the passcode and there isn't a single token out there, Square or otherwise, that gives out it's algorithm for easy deciphering.

Keep in mind OP, that even though YOU play on a PS4 that is tied to you, your account can still be used to play on PC also. So that means if a hacker gets a hold of your information somehow, they can still log in on PC and steal all your stuff.
