I gotta admit, I'd have loved this system. Something deep down wants to see my character run off into the sunset with Minfilia...
NO, YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE, OP! Totally in for some sort of NPC-interaction-relationship system. Something like the beast tribes but way less tedious (and repetitive) obviously. It really should be there.
The best way to do it would to just have it be a quest-line, like an actual "proper" questline like those for the Guilds/Jobs. Not daily beast tribe quests...please for the love of God not that.
Yes. That's exactly what I was thinking. Quest line! Just hang out with your favourite buddy for an entire (VERY ENJOYABLE AND SWEET) quest line and gradually grow closer to them and become their best friend or one and only.
Then after that you can play with them in the Gold Saucer whenever you want or something like that |]
(Speaking of, I'm also excited for the Gold Saucer XD)

In all fairness, you can't really compare FF or KH relationships where it's between characters with established personalities, alignments and such that you don't really control and Bioware games where it has to be more open to accomodate the way a player wants to roleplay their character and choose how to respond.
Yeah. a better comparison would be something like the Tales games, Star Oceans, Thousand Arms, etc. I think Thousand Arms did it best.In all fairness, you can't really compare FF or KH relationships where it's between characters with established personalities, alignments and such that you don't really control and Bioware games where it has to be more open to accomodate the way a player wants to roleplay their character and choose how to respond.
