They're clearly more martial combatants rather then the most literal - and ill used - name "pugilist".
OK? When I see some black belts and a martial arts ring we can call them martial artists. Its not like I don't want to see kick attacks, but considering the fact they call the class pugilist and there aren't kick attacks its a bit more likely to believe they meant them to be "pugilists" and not martial artists, and just forgot to put in those kick animations. Like I said, I do hope the advancement paths or unlocking advanced jobs (however they decide to do it) will give us the full fledged monk complete with kick attacks.

I love the idea of leveling my pugilist to an advanced job/training of martial arts. Bring on the kicks.

Do you know when kicks were introduced in FF11?
Maybe Monks were pugilists too when that game started, or do you think that they just forgot to put them in?

No, I still believe that they just did't give them kick animations either because they would be the most awesome looking class evar and nobody would pick something else :P
    or
because they have in mind some other use for the Kicks, like a different stance (FF11 style).

I am confident that we will eventually see kick animations from pugilists in the game, I am just not sure if we will see them while in Pugilist form, or Monk.

I have weapons on my hands and not my feet, but that doesn't mean I don't want to kick! I think it would be a great idea. I'm having difficulty picturing it though.

Some kicks to the side or a kick to the stomach would be great for some weapon skills. The Sparta kick suggestion on the first page made me laugh. I'd like to see that, too.

Actually the very first (I believe first) weaponskill monks got was combo. Which wasn't a kick attack, but had a kick animation as did a few others before the actual kick attacks. Thats more what I meant although I did say attack at the start of the post and not animation (although I did comment on it). Hell even simian thrash, our last weaponskill we get has no kicking animation to it. And nothing i'm aware of before that has any sort of kicking animation to it please correct me if i'm wrong since i'm only mid 30's but i'm sure i'm not wrong.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter. I'm not attacking anyone, but vack's reasoning for calling out that guy was based on "when they have boxing gloves and are confided to a ring" you can call them a "boxer" when NONE of their animations support anything but punching attacks I fail to see how SE doesn't consider pugilists to be....well pugilists. But we're arguing over unimportant semantics, and i'm sure we all want to see the same there here. Kick attacks and animations for the class we all here seem to love to play .

No kicking animation but last hit isn't a boxing move either :P

Yeah you're right about combo but this still doesn't change anything IMO.
Pugilist is supposed to be the Monk class of this game witch is the class that represents the "unarmed" combat (although he has weapons) but it's the same argument, pugilists use weapons? Don't they fight with their fists?

They just used Pugilist as a name just to be different and they decided to make make matching moves.
When they advance to Monks or When we get new attack animations I believe that we will have our kicks too.

I would like kicks. Some of the kicks in CoH were over the top though. I can just picture a Roegadyn in a monk robe doing a jump kick showing off his underpants..., but then again Lalafells doing backflip kicks would be pretty sweet (thinks of yoda).

I want kicks. Different styles of kicks too. Not just one generic looking. I think it could be great to implement diferent types of kicks with different effects as unique single skills. Lets say, low kick to lower enemy mobility, high kick for crit damage, roundhouse kick for "chuck norris" damage !
