I hope you reported the person that did that, its a abuse of the game if I understand right. Well abuse of DF, I don't really care if its done in PF groups but you dont pull that crap in DF and expect everything will be fine.

TBH, it is just wasting your time to report anyone for any reasons leaving a content. ^^;
Definitely it is system design issue.
