YoshiP: That depends on how you take Raid, for example in WoW there are Raids that are for 5 players, 10 players, and also 20+ “Hard to get that much people” type of stuff. Stuff for hardcore gamers. I am thinking as raid is contents that requires strategy, unlike EQ (EverQuest) raid=large-scale PvE.
I don't have a problem with Yoshi-P reinventing a word, but my problem does lie with the fact that he incorrectly understands how it's used in WoW.

    In WoW:

    5 man = Dungeon
    10/25/40 man = Raid

And in WoW, dungeon difficulty is not the same as raid difficulty. Both require strategy, yes, but raids are more highly coordinated efforts. Dungeons are shorter content for more casual players and a means to get to endgame. Raids are endgame progression.

I had believed that in FFXIV, there would be a similar correlation. That 4-mans would be like 5-man dungeons. And that 8-mans would be like 10-man raids.

Perhaps this just means that all instanced content will require an equal amount of strategy. I'm not blowing a gasket about it, but he must understand that this choice of terminology for all instanced content will confuse some players.

haha, I just have to quote this because it's the funniest thing I've seen someone say while still being serious. Sorry Yoshi-P, Rowyne thinks you're cloning WoW wrong.

So, just so we're clear, Yoshi-P is using the word the way it is supposed to be used. WoW people have a different understanding of the word and think that the way it is supposed to be used is wrong. I do think this is the winner of 'Epic Thread of the Month - June 2011'

Oh, look, another troll who resorts to insults when his argument is weak and based in nothing but opinion. How original.

"Just so we're clear" *rolls eyes* If Yoshi-P draws from an example in another game (like he specifically did in the quote in the OP), yet fails to understand that example, then that is indeed an error on his part that could affect the game.

Too bad you got an unofficial translation. What if his meaning was "something, but not exactly like WoW"? Then what?
