Unfortunately, if someone makes the choice to disable their profanity filter, and get offended by something you say it falls under harassment. Stupid I know, seeing there is blacklists and such, but whatever.

Why do people always need this explained to them, Theprofanity filter is there for people who don't want to see ANY profanity, it can be disabled because many people do not care is they SEE it, but the ToS accually stipulates that rude or insulting language or conduct is a infraction, the existence of the profanity filter does NOT give you the right to overflow the chat log with profanity regardless if it shows up as written or as a string of ???s

Why would anyone ban parsers ?they're a useful tool.
Elitists are going to find other ways to upset other players regardless.
SE seems so concerned of players attacking BAD players and hurting their feelings..

my experience with a parser was just bad. while still trying to lvl and go thru story, i ended up in a sr of prea, and had no idea what was going on. at the end i was called a bad because i did 10 dps.

People against parsers are in for a surprise once they allow add-on support. That's usually one of the first things people will create.

I don't have a problem with people who use parser correctly ( in their statics/raid groups or just for themselves.

But using my experience from WoW. The vast majority of people will annoyingly post the parse results after every boss encounter in a DF group, rage at people... And even have no clue how to read the damn things themselves and call out the healer for low DPS... And then say the healer is making excuses when they're told "hey! Dummy, I'm the healer! Not DPS" (this has happened more times than I care to think about)


Long story short... Way to many people think having a parsers makes them not. Instead of using the results to help them actually be pro.

My experience from WoW was different. What you described above was RARE in my experience. In fact, most of the time people weren't even using one or said nothing about it in the first place.

Parser other function then detecting noob lv 50 players that want a carry (like dragoon that use ONLY 3 attack skill in rotation or monks that have no idea how their class works) is my favourite function from what I heard it can do, it can be set to play sound to indicate when you get a firestarter or trundercloud and thing like that (this should be in the game btw)

And yes, I love using math to improve my performance and understanding in a mathematical game. Fuck me, right?

For starters your obsession with parsers is something you aren't keeping to yourself and it is something you seem to want to push unto others for all the wrong reasons.

I don't use parsers nor do I have the need to because I know how to put 1 and 1 together. I don't need no parser to tell me how to do my DPS as a BLM neither does anyone else for that matter.

You don't need number crunching to know that your ability says it does said potency and it has a chance to combo into something else to do more damage or provide the group with certain benefits. You don't need number crunching to know that your ability will proc more damage or a benefit if you attack from behind or the flank. You don't need number crunching to know that you should consider avoiding the enemies AoE's. This isn't a mathematical game because if it was only people with math degrees would be qualified to play this game and we know that ain't the case. You don't need number crunching to know that food and potions will grant additional status bonuses you can benefit from.

Math isn't what is gonna be improving your performance. The obsession with numbers however. Well it speaks for itself.

Parsers wont be needed at all if Square-Enix started releasing spotlight videos of how each job can/should be played during end-game with advance tips to give the most out of everyone's performance and how-to videos for raids.
