No, never got to play XI as much as I would have liked.
No, never did the monster arena in X.
No, Zodiac spear a shit, there's plenty of other better weapons to be used. People only care about that one because if you manipulate RNG you can get it early.

Most FFs don't have very much grinding, at the worst is like the Tail grind in 4 and TAY especially.

I'll stick with my comparison, thank you. RNG still exists, its just not blatant like it used to be.

FF XIV ARR isn't my first FF game, it's not even my first MMO. I've tried XI, I hated it (still do). My first MMO was the original EverQuest, back when Ruins of Kunark was released. I remember grinding. I've done grinding for rep during WoW's TBC. I don't mind grinding. I haven't complained about it. Of course, I haven't gotten that far yet (and I still wouldn't complain about it when I do get that far). I can empathize with people being unlucky with the RNG, though. I know that it's like. Everyone knows what it's like.

Gaming doesn't dominate some of our lives. Just because you've got all day to capture monsters and farm items for weapon customization doesn't mean that everyone else does.

Just because I do, doesn't mean that other people do. Just because I can and did acquire all atma, doesn't necessarily mean it was the way I wanted to spend all of that time.

You got lucky. Some of these zones spawn FATEs slowly and there is NOTHING you can do about it. You just have to deal with how spread out the zone is, how lazy other people on your server might be, and the frequency in which FATEs spawn by just hoping that the next one drops it.

Do you remember reloading your save 500 times in a attempt to get the right chest in FF12 so that you can get the endgame spear...?.........
Or...if you go back to older FFs, waiting to run into the right monster on the Veldt in FF6 AND successfully steal the item you need.

Grinding and RNG can be a pain, but don't play final fantasy and expect to get everything you want without putting effort and spending some time.

Yeah... They did, or at least I did. Red Mage or Bard
.... Tab, Tab, Tab, Tab, "Holy Crap! Dia Macro"... Wait for the RMT bot to kill it... Tab Tab Tab...etc etc.

The only NM I remember teally well from XI... Huu Mujoh(or something like that) The Tempest, Yagudo caster. I spit his name in disgust, and he is my go to example of the thing that were fundamentally flawed about XI, I still remember his spawn locations and his abilities, all because he dropped the Monster Signa, a weapon that was great for Mithra Bards, which I was. I spent YEARS camping him... Never saw it drop once.

And as to the atmas... Is everyone forgetting the currency grind for XI's weapon upgrades that took most people YEARS to farm up enough for them?

The Veldt was a scripted order of fights, most of the time your RNG consisted of a 50% chance in on fight #14 in a list of ... idr how many. 115 or somethin fights.

Hundreds of hours playing Blitzball in FFX to unlock Wakka's Ultimate, as well as grinding the Omega ruins for hours to level up.
