Is this your first Final Fantasy? Or do you just not remember grinding in past games?

So much hate for the new elements that take more than a day to accomplish. Does anyone even remember the requirements on some of the older FF games to get all the best weapons/gear/upgrades/levels?

Do you remember farming for 1 mob for weeks with hardly ever claiming it to just have a CHANCE at a drop for an item you would probably never even use on FFXI?

Do you remember capturing tons and tons of monsters on FFX to complete the beast arena?

Do you remember reloading your save 500 times in a attempt to get the right chest in FF12 so that you can get the endgame spear...?

There are several other instances of it.. but the fact that people have their atmas and have upgraded it 3-4+ times 3 days into the patch have shown that this isn't that long of a process... Heck it's even been stated now you don't NEED your relic weapon and can actually level a job on the fates your doing to get something MORE out of it if you want...

Calm down guys.. really. I got my atmas in a total of 8 hours. 1 hour a day over the last week. It isn't difficult, you just have to be smart about it. Sitting in a town for 5-10 minutes waiting for a fate to pop instead of teleporting to a new area is not going to help you out. I understand it's RNG and someone can get their Atma's in 1 hour while another person can take months.. that is great. It gives you a goal and a sense of failure or accomplishment either way. If you don't like it. there are 2 other weapons out there that are BETTER than the Atma's right now.. go get those. YOU DONT NEED the Atma's weapon...

Easy to say when you are done in eight hours. I'm about 33 hours in, give or take, and have 9 atma.
As to your other points, if you camped gear in XI that you weren't going to use, you're foolish. All FFX monsters can be gathered in less than a day of playing, and reloading like that in XII was stupid to get a second spear. If you want to talk XII grind you should have mentioned petrify farming.

Gaming doesn't dominate some of our lives. Just because you've got all day to capture monsters and farm items for weapon customization doesn't mean that everyone else does.

Just because I do, doesn't mean that other people do. Just because I can and did acquire all atma, doesn't necessarily mean it was the way I wanted to spend all of that time.

You got lucky. Some of these zones spawn FATEs slowly and there is NOTHING you can do about it. You just have to deal with how spread out the zone is, how lazy other people on your server might be, and the frequency in which FATEs spawn by just hoping that the next one drops it.

No offense spanky, but I'm really sick of people saying "It only tooke me X hours and I'm done, it's really NOT TOO BAD!". Now if a few people said, "I've spent 30 hours on 2 drops and I LOVE this system, then that would be what I consider love for the new system.

I can't take you seriously. 8 hours for all your atma is a blessing. I spent a combined total of 12 hours in western thanalan for a single atma.

However, some people being done in 8 hours while I grind for 26 hours and only have 1/12, something is horribly wrong.

I'll consider myself fortunate seeing how you only have one after 26 hours.

I'm at 0/12 with that same time investment. It's really easy to say "calm down" when you've got yours.

It's all about feedback. I don't mind weekly caps for tomestones, I don't mind weekly resets for Coil. All in all, that doesn't bother me because I can see where my effort should be spent. Spending that time trying to farm Atma and getting ZERO for that effort is insulting, boring, frustrating, and a waste of my time.

where did you saw that? is that true? if it is, than the process of why the drop rate is so makes sense, it turns the atma into an "alt weapon", not "main weapon"
