A lot of people are going at the Atma grinding the wrong way and this at fault both the player and the developer:
1) The player needs to realize that this should be a goal to achieve in the long run and that doing it in two days never was the purpose. It is a long term goal to stretch in the next three months until the next patch. As such, people need to treat it that way instead of having it right now.
2) The developers should have realized people really hate having to deal with RNG and having some people get their Atma in a day, and others get no Atma whatsoever in x hours of grind. (In my case, myself, I only have 2 after say 16 hours of doing grinding this weekend versus my wife, who has 7 in the same amount of time.)
Personally, I would have preferred an idea that a grind is needed in FATEs but not a drop: make it that you have to use your Zenith weapon x amount of times in 12 different locations or get an item. Say, having hacked away at 500 (arbitrary number) mobs in a fate will unlock the Atma. But there is still a minute chance that you get an Atma as a drop which bypasses your 500.
That way, you don't cheapen the experience as it's still a grind to kill 500 mobs, but you also give that RNG a factor. The biggest problems players probably have is because it's entirely based on RNG as to when you'll get an item. That's not a fun formula to follow; it never has been. Like the weapons, they should have made possible progression paths. It sucks for those who either REALLY want their Relic because it's the only item they really want or that they can really go for (Yes, it does exist that some people don't have time to Dedicate to Coil/Extreme modes.)
Finally, I don't really care about the Relic in terms of how to achieve it: I'm impartial to the grind and have grind'ed out a lot worse than this. But it is, by far, not the most fun experience in this game. I will stop grinding to go do dungeons (even with the piss poor connection lately the Duty servers have) or do my roulettes. Or I'll go mine. In the end, it'll happen in due time and I'll dedicate some time to do it.
Why in the world would you do x hours FATE grinding is beyond me; you're really setting yourself up to hate the game. If you get tired and frustrated, go do other things.
Also, I always wanted to be a lead dev for a day. I suppose this is some form of way to be so. Too bad we don't have the options he probably does!
