I actually find it very amusing how most are treating the Atma/Animus relic. It's like nobody knows what to do with themselves if the game isn't time gating their progression by the day.

I hope more people start thinking like this. I've posted repeatedly in the big idiotic thread about the options we have been given, but no one seems to care. Easier to complain I guess. I got 1/12 so far from just doing FATEs while I run around doing Story Quests (which are fantastic btw), and other new things. I still got a long way to go, but I don't care. I don't see myself "farming" Atmas unless I'm waiting for a queue or have already done everything else. I would have thought it would be obvious that this was the intent, as the other weapons are much stronger, but whatever. People will complain about anything.

I kind of think it's funny when people playing RPGs don't want to have RNG.

This Atma farming is getting way out of control. The system was put in place to coax the endgame players out of cities and give them a reason to do fates now and again, not to form giant hunting parties and farm them all to death. Nobody wins this way- endgame players are locked into a dull grind, and low level players lose out as there's no way to keep up with the parties. If players want to make a madcap dash to the finish line they should stick with WoW, instead of messing up FFXIV for everyone.

You folks seem to forget that a lot of people were really looking forward to upgrading their relic weapons post 2.2 and you can't blame people for having their mind set to it.
The Zenith > Atma stage has been thought out badly and needs to be adjusted.
Especially since this part of the ride does nothing more for the weapon than give it a recolor and an increase of item level.
Noone is debating the fact that they have to grind for it, heck I think most people can forgive SE for tieing this to FATEs.
But the whole RNG part as it currently is, is driving people nuts.
Felis catus

I just spent 3 hours this morning in Southern Thanalan and watched as my party of 8 slowly diminished down to 1 person (me) with everyone else getting an Atma.
I feel the pain.

The reason people are farming now is because in a few weeks (or maybe longer) when everybody has finished it, no one will be doing it and it will be impossible to get gold on it anymore, making your chances of getting it even lower than it is now. This Atma farming is getting way out of control. The system was put in place to coax the endgame players out of cities and give them a reason to do fates now and again, not to form giant hunting parties and farm them all to death. I tried to take a more moderate approach. Sure I spent around 6-7 hours specifically in groups farming Atma's this weekend, but I also did a lot of other content. Between instance runs I'd be out in a zone killing fates. The sad thing. Even with a mix of farming and occasional fate kills I still got through the entire weekend without a single Atma drop. It's extremely disheartening to get through a weekend putting genuine effort into something and getting nothing out of it. This isn't delayed rewards. This feels like no rewards. You know what might make it feel better? If I wasn't doing level 4-12 fates the whole time. I'd have more abilities and I wouldn't get a paltry 35 or so GC seals from it. The entire exercise feels like a lesson in utterly wasting my time. If I at least got full seals and could use my abilities it might be a lot less terrible.

I totally can, and do. If your "mind set" wasn't clicking with what was actually happening, you change your mindset. The only people who keep doing something even if they don't really like it are addicts. I will never understand this thinking. These weapons are not good as they are compared to every other new weapon. A simple FFXIVDB search would have cleared that up. Obviously, they weren't meant to be "farmed". Western Players just need everything NOW and get angry when they can't, even if there are better options.
And that's another part that really sucks. It's like I'm forced to rush grind this if I ever want to upgrade my relic in the future.
I didn't do much Atma farming over the weekend because I already know my RNG is bad, and I kept seeing how many people would spend hours on fates and not get one drop. So I thought ok, I will just take my time getting it and just do fates here and there. But then I realized I probably won't be able to because everyone and their mom is rushing to get it spending hours and hours wasting their lives and grinding and everyone will be done with it. So it's frustrating.
