I'm sounding like a broken record here, but you don't need the best gear (coil gear) to run something that's not coil! AF2 and Coil Gear should NOT be more accessible and are fine just the way they are because you do not need that gear for any other content that is not Coil. Someone above me posted that the new Coil gives 4 drops, I cannot verify this, but if this is true, then your "omg but I keep getting screwed by the RNG" argument is pretty moot because now we're getting TWICE the amount of drops we did in Turns 1-5.
^ This, so much this! I find it funny it's the same people complaining about Atma grind. You don't need an i100 weapon if you aren't going to progress into Coil. Yes, you do have the right to have it like others, but don't expect it to be handed to you on a silver platter. They added this grind so Coil progression players don't snatch it the next day and start wrecking things. It's an MMO after all. Progression needs to keep going or people won't have a reason to sub.

Same goes for gear. To simply put, one requires efforts and one doesn't. What's so hard to understand that the one requiring "efforts" is higher ilvl? People need to be rewarded and have that sense of accomplishment for their dedication and skills. Coil separates the men from the boys. If you're a casual, what do you need to be rewarded for? To run the ilvl 55 dungeons? There's a reason they drop i70 gear because that's the fitting reward for such content.

SE giving you access to i100 gear is actually far more generous than what other MMO's do. Many of them require to run raids to get vendor currency. You should be grateful that at least SE allows you to have this currency from normal dungeons as well. Like the saying goes, give them a finger and they will take the whole hand. Sigh.

It almost seems as though they're overcompensating for something

It's not about not wanting to do Coil, but rather about actively doing Coil and getting nothing to show from it because all 110 loot is based around RNG.
