You just need to keep at it. If you can find a good farming group for Thornmarch it's a very easy fight, maybe like 15-20 minutes max, and you can do several runs in a row. You're still going to have to hope that a) the weapon you want drops and b) that you roll the highest, but if you don't even attempt it, of course you're not going to get anything. In my FC our level 50 crafters will make stuff for the rest of us for free as long as we provide the key materials. 9 potash for Vanya, 9 hardened sap for the bow, etc. Ask members of your FC if they would do that. Now that the old Philo items are bought with Grand Company seals, those materials are easy to get.

I've decided that it's not worth doing Duty runs anymore, going to level my Bard and MRD, get Mythology tomes from Daily's, upgrade my Veil of Wiyu to Zenith, then just proceed with the main story and get to Leviathan later. When BRD is at 50, I'll be doing the Relic for that as well. PLD, though I am loathe to do it, will just have to have Curtana and the Holy Shield, I hate doing any Relic quests though after all the monotony in XI, which is why I've avoided it after I got the Veil of Wiyu a few months ago, the Greater Key of Titan was better than a regular Wiyu Relic, and the cap on Myths was still up so I used it and put the Mythos into use for my DRG.

So they should immediately always get what they're going after regardless of someone else needing it more than them? Not only would they be lacking humility, that's just plain unfair to people who actually need the gear. If they get put in a party where no one needs it, it's fair game. If another player actually NEEDS that gear, they should have right of way with it. That's the point of a Need and Greed system.

While I agree that it sucks that he Needed on the sword while having Zenith weapons, who are you to dictate who deserves to roll on the gear? You needed it as a statistical upgrade, but you're both investing time in the activity which makes his need and yours equal. That would be like me getting upset over only having 6 atma so far for my Curtana of Atma while other people farmed for a fraction of the time and got their Atma 1/1 from the FATEs they did.

If you're that concerned about getting the gear you want then you should switch from letting the DF make your party and start forming your own. Also, as another has said, if you have the ability to beat Titan just get your Curtana and Holy Shield already and forget about the rest of the stuff. If you want it for vanity purposes later on just go back and farm it with a better group.

I laid out my thoughts on that in my wall post. I needed it for as you say a statistical upgrade, he probably wanted for Vanity or Collection, the least other people could do in this game is let the people that need the gear more than them have it, common courtesy. I'd do it for others, so I'd expect it do be done unto me. If hoping people will be the kind soul I would like to run into more often is a bad thing then I might as well stop giving advice and just lay back on a couch away from my keyboard and not talk.

I decided to just go and do Curtana and the Holy Shield anyways, have them for my PLD now, got it done in one day's time, but still grueling in some areas.

How do you know the guy that rolled hadn't been trying to farm that piece for twice as long as you? Nobody deserves anything in this game, its RNG! if its meant to be yours it will be and if it isn't don't come on the forums complaining about how you think it's unfair that someone who is playing that class rolled higher on an item.

The way I see it if you play that class you are allowed to roll on the items regardless, to think otherwise is stupid.
