    when you look under the event log keep in mind the time of the crash and look around for critical event logs , also look for error logs and warning logs. if its a black screen chances are that you might not have a log related to that but you may get a log on something that happened before the crash and in the process of the crash.

    From what i have look up a black screen can mean many things. It can be hardware or software issues (software issues also can come from the game) like drivers. But if a lot of players are having the same issue then is probably the game that is at fault. Especially if you don't get any issues with other games. You can always also run a stability test on your computer with Furmark if you feel like it. Take a look at your gpu temperatures while gaming (so play in windowed mode) to see if your problem is a heat issue.

    Black screen can also mean not enough power but if you run a stability test you can rule that out. Troubleshooting is a pain cause you have to do many steps. But like i said if the problem is happening to more players that's no coincidence

    crash

    i seem to have a pattern. both times i have crashed i was mounted auto running and i had just pressed Y to open the fishing menu when it crashed if that helps at all

    Have to agree there. I have not seen one post from squarenix compared to other forums where the devs , and mods are supportive. Need to be in a good relationship with the community indeed.

    That's because this isn't for requesting support/answers from SE--it is intended for user-to-user support. Read the sticky welcoming you to this forum for the details. We've had like 1 communication from SE in here in 4 months... by design, they typically don't interact directly in here.

    Really need to submit your problems with the template at the in-game bug report section or by submitting a proper ticket through the portal, as this seems to happen under specific circumstances and does not appear to be a global problem throughout the whole game. I just spammed FATE's in Dragonhead for nearly 3 hours on my laptop with no issues--no noticeable lag, crashes, or even screen tears. Asus G75VX running Win8.0, i7-3630QM, NV GTX670MX with the last Asus provided drivers (311 video, 6.01.7083 Sound). I haven't updated anything beyond the game, security software, and things like Java/Flash in months--not even Winupdates. Have had no problems that haven't been related to stability issues that needed to be addressed by either my ISP and their partners or SE with their servers or reported game bugs.

    So what drivers are you using? 311? that's old drivers if that's the case. Second sure they have a rule on how its done but that does not mean they can not communicate trough the forums. You are using a laptop my specs are completely different. Maybe that's why you are not having issues no updates that causes issues. I perform updates all the time but I kept the drivers from Jan instead cause of the instability. If they cannot respond the forums seems dead cause however comes here gets no answers. And if you contact them the proper way you will get a generic response which is not that helpful. (I know cause i submitted a ticket for my issues). I rather help and answer the best I can at least i'm more helpful than squarenix and i dont get payed. Players pay a sub for a reason. But enough rant. We can agree to disagree.

    I use those drivers simply because they work. Over a decade of experience with SE has taught me that newest is not always best with them. They have a slow development cycle.. and even slower QA cycles. I was still using ATI drivers from 2009 when I left XI in 2013... simply because I had no issues with them. It's a learned pattern for me to not just jump to the latest and greatest for them. Only time I've tried newer drivers at all is when there has been confirmation that a newer release addresses performance or stability issues. "If it ain't broke..."

    It's not an issue of whether they can/can't communicate directly with us here... they simply don't by design. That's the point... if you haven't read the sticky, I provided a hyperlink to it in the previous post. The language there is fairly common practice... it's even in the guidelines at the coveted Blizzard forums. Some other companies just encourage more interaction from their support team--SE simply doesn't. They never have... it was the same in the XI forums as well. They have specific reasons for it... none officially posted, but many have speculated it may be because of the language barriers. It is really easy for things to get lost in translation from their region to ours, so there is a bit of a delay in the communication chain. It's nothing new... they are always quite cautious with their communications.

    Canned responses from automated ticket submission is common practice as well. I was involved with discussions during the early stages of development for a reporting system designed in partnership with local counties to use on their websites for their support requests (http://egs-appserver1.lylesdata.com:...ourRequestWeb/ , http://cxap2.aikencountysc.gov/atyourrequest/home.do). The point of using such a system is that it gets reports routed to specific people based on the plaintiff's selections when generating the request, <hopefully> minimizing the errors and such. It may still get passed around a bit before it finally gets to someone that can act on it, but it serves a purpose--to better organize it then it may otherwise be on an open forum. It greatly streamlines the process and provides a means of internally tracking the flow through all stages to completion (and generating statistics and such), thus emphasizing more accountability in each department.

    They have a reason for wanting us to follow a specific format when posting bugs here--the moderators need to be able to file our complaints within the format of their ticket system (ie: the support portal format). Tickets simply won't be submitted to the devs without specific information included--because they can't complete ticket generation without it.

    Things will simply be much more efficient if everyone would follow the posted guidelines.

    Instances are killing me.. literally. I just tried to do a cutters cry. wipe after wipe as I spammed heal and nothing happened. when clicking on the sand gates to port I would literaly freeze and almost disconnect. I am fine in fates. I am fine in leves, but hests and instances.. lagzilla! This is NEW since patch.

    This forum isn't dead... it is working as intended. The big issues people are having at the moment are things that SE needs to address, not something that users can assist each other with. That's why we are only seeing activity in around 40 threads a day over here ATM. I'd hardly call that "dead".
