Someone somewhere is making a decision to over-ride the goodwill shown by the GM. This would be a higher management decision, and depending on SE's policy, their hands might be tied. If it is made known from high up that no exceptions are to be made in the case of ToS infringements, regardless of the whys and wherefores, then so be it - nothing will ever change that situation.

The lesson to be learned here, is if you have suspicions as to whether you can do something like dupes/hacks or what have you, do not attempt it even once. This is because just because you can do something, it doesnt mean you should. If your friend had have just reported it, then the GMs would have been able to test whether the theory was correct, and he would not have done anything to get banned.

They can't make exceptions, because if they let this guy off, they'd potentially have to let dozens, if not hundreds of other off too, if they knew of the bug and exploited it. I can't see how SE could make the distinction between an honest hacker and a dishonest one based on the words of the player alone.

I have real sympathy with this situation if what you said is accurate, and I have no reason to believe it is not true. The problem is, SE operate a no tolerance policy where proven, and it was proven, so I am pretty sure the ban will never be lifted.

I understand, and pretty sure he does so now as well.

Getting him unbanned would be awesome sauce but i know the chances of that happening is very slim, so i'll keep trying till at least we get information. Long as i'm calm and civil about this, maybe he will get some information at least.. Trying to show as much proof as possible how confusing and weird this whole case is for Mister and why he knows nothing about his ban. Like.. We still don't even know if him getting sweeped was a mistake, or intentional. Is he meant to be banned or not? Did the investigation prove he used large amounts of the spawned gil? Did he spawn large amounts of items and sold it in the market or traded it? We are just so uninformed and it frustrates us at how little we know about his account. If he's meant to be permanently banned, then at least put the real reason on there for his ban. I just can't help it but to keep on trying and hoping.

I honestly wouldn't be here if his ban reason on the account was "exploiting and hacking" over "RMT activities". By that alone i would know for sure he was banned for what he did, even if he was a big help to SE.

Yet the ban wasn't issued by a person but rather a program that banned anyone over a certain amount of gil, he was banned around the same time all those why am i banned threads that were popping up months ago. How does he know if this was a intentional ban, or a mistake? Unless he's able to call up about the report and they tell him about the investigation that the automated ban was in fact intentional on his part rather a mistake.

Why didn't they close my thread after the SGM responded? I sure wouldn't have made a 2nd thread, and would of taken the hint instead of keeping this thread alive in standing up to what i feel is right. Sure it would most likely send the wrong vibe to both me and mister, but it would of saved me 3 months of replying to this thread, and also save the time others like you are taking to reply. If i could i would put in a ticket myself and ask if nothing else can be done with his account, and if they can actually tell me they have investigated and can't do anything else as the ban is final, i would kindly ask that a moderator close this thread.

I'm just to much of a hopeful person who feels it's not over till they say so, and keeping silent isn't exactly an answer. Maybe i'm being childish, ignorant, or something else. Or both. Kind of hard to project my thoughts and emotions sometimes through text, but i hope i'm not confusing you >.< I just can't give up just yet when we know so little.
