THIEF AND/OR NINJA hinted at in 2.2 story for 2.3? (very minor spoilers)

Duelist > Red Mage + Rune Fencer
Pugilist > Dancer
Gladiator > Dark Knight

I'd prefer
Musketeer -> Corsair (DPS)
Thief -> Ninja (pure DPS)
Duelist/Fencer -> Red Mage (DPS) / Rune Fencer (tank)
Gladiator OR Marauder -> DRK (preferably MRD imo, since DRK in XI used 2H weapons)

As for Dancer, I'd prefer it to be a DPS/Support, or heals if they could make it right and balanced so it doesn't outshine WHM and SCH. I'd like DNC to come off of say Thief because of the dual wielding, since DNCs generally when /NIN until we got our native dual wield (making /WAR really good for damage at the cost of utsusemi). DNC off of PGL would work for me, I'm planning on leveling monk anyway lol.

But I'm happy as long as DNC and RDM makes it in. RDM could come off of GLD as well, though I'd prefer a fencer class for it.

I disagree Thancred is hinting at THF though, given the fact that in ARR his class is officially GLA (ability wise), and how even in 1.0 he was always refered to as a 'BRD' (although at the time BRD didn't exist, it seems that was how Tanaka's original team was planning on making BRD to be like - naturally it ended up something completely different of course). But of course I guess we'll find out in due time.

ya saw the hints arriving for a while now since 2.X updates are meant to build up and reveal slowly the contents of 1st expansion. Yoshi-P already mentioned that they maybe new classes with one of them being Scout (class that goes into Thief and/or Ninja) in the future.

It is possible that Revnant Toll will become a full scale city in 1st expansion and have some new Class Guild Buildings to go with it as well.

Only new classes mentioned so far are Musketeer, Scout, and Melee Mage.

Yea I wouldnt mind Scout branching into Thief and Ninja. I do wonder how the Ninja will play in terms of the rotation. I'm not from FFXI so I have no idea how it played there.

it not Thancred but the New Protagonist introduced in 2.2 storyline.

She is a master in a class within the Diciple of War and the 2.2 story reveals her combat style is different from the current Diciple of War in Eorzea being a new Diciple of War combat.

So far 2.2 only reveal some of the future Diciple of War class Scout combat style being the Combat stance and a AoE skill Scout will have once it is fully released in the future.

Musketeer is pretty firm on being a class, I think. The guild exists in the game with its name long established. And as much as I dislike FF11, it seems likely to me that Corsair will make an appearance as a job. It's just too damn appropriate for a bunch of pirates.

As long as the trainer NPC is named Leon(hart).

I talked to Thancred recently, non quest related & in Revenant's Toll I believe, & he definitely said he was a Bard.
