I am. Though occasionally I lose a fish. I imagine 307+ (or whatever it is between 299 and 307) is the base limit, while a higher gathering rating will give more chances at HQ fish. I am catching HQ fish at that rating though.

308 gathering and the HQ Silver still gets away. That's with HQ stew and no FC buff.

I find that too. I've caught 6 of the 7 HQ sovereigns I have with 307 Gathering and 235 perception. I have lost three sovereigns so far though. Very annoying. I can't meld any better than I have right now 'cause I'm broke too. So I just need to keep chugging away.

and if you eat the tamato pie you get from the quest, i hit 332 gathering and 269 perception for 30 min
use it at night so you don't get mahi's
