While I actually "don't" like this idea either where is it defined that them charging for this is "unethical", it isn't required to progress in the game and you don't have to buy it.
I wont be buying any probably, vote your displeasure by not buying any either.

I disagree with your first point and agree with the second, xi was a subfee game, paying for extra retainers is paying for more storage space which is why some people are upset about it. However xi also did this by charging per extra toon/alt which was also paying for extra storage.
This was 12 years ago, and as I recall they were about a dollar a pop then too.
The fantasia does not in any way change game progression, therefore buying it is utterly optional.
I suppose some argument can be raised to support the 3rd retainer gathering mats on ventures is sort of pay to get something faster, but im going to say that's a stretch.
Without obvious p2w implications subfee ffxiv can charge some cash fee for any lil gadget that cant be had ingame "as long and until" it directly applies to progression, and charge the sub too.
I sometimes wonder how tight peoples bank accounts are when I hear these objections, if another dollar is going to make them call a bankruptcy lawyer, the other 15 bucks probably need to go as well.

to the TC: The fact that fantasia isn't already readily available is part of an insidious experiment of exploitation of the anti-social behavior associated with individuals participating in this study. (FF14)
Based on this message board's current statistics, The majority of naive participants are in favor of this exploit on their lack of patients and extravagant consumerism.
The company "Square Enix" is currently debating involving their business/IP in this slippery slope of micro-transaction taking heed to possible backlash from sources outside it's current fan base.
This doesn't look appealing to those not already dedicated to the project, and might turn away possible future participants. This study exposes the willingness players have to pay for the simplest of features that could easily be added and future features that may be meticulously left out and charged for later. The test subject's current logic is based off of their need to "achieve" at any cost they deem reasonable.
while i would like to see SE pull there finger out of there arse and give us fantasia to buy from the mogstation this is not really a pay to win item its just a little thing not unlike wow and it name /race change.. but paying $2 for 1 extra retainer feels a little more like pay to win or at least pay to advance your economic standing within the game. while alts alts alt need only progress though the story line a short way and bang 2 retainers!! honestly a standed sub over a normal sub is only a few dollars more and you can have 8 alts per server.. umm logic!!! i dont care personally i won't be using there service BUT what worries me is are we going down the slippery slope to extra content costing .. the silly excuse for charging people $2 was server space are we going to get the same excuse with personal housing??? then whats next!!
Fantasia potions were, and I presume still are a CE/Legacy bonus. They were never intended to be items that players could get for easily and free. There's far too much entitlement in this thread.

This is like arguing for paying to change servers, is a lost cause just accept is the way it is. Lots of people ask for it and they deliver end of story.
I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

Would be nice not to pay for Fantasia, nor server transfers, if you ask me. What's wrong with not paying for it?
In GW2 you had free transfers. Then they changed it to 1 free per week. Not sure if it works like that still, haven't played for awhile. If free to play MMO can do it, why a subscription based one can't?

lol this has to be one of the best duck and weave jobs I have ever seen at politely "eviscerating" a company decision, have you ever considered a career in politics?, retail car sales maybe?, lol.^^
