XI is the only game where they use a Scythe, almost every other one is a sword.

And random but somewhat accurate comparison: Jedi uses a Lightsaber (Paladin uses a sword) Sith/Dark Side Jedi uses a red Lightsaber (Dark Knight uses Dark/Evil Sword)

I don't think that DRK will get a scythe, just like DRG did not get a wyvern, there are only a couple of examples of a DRK using a scythe in FF, mainly just XI, that also did DRG with a wyvern. This game tends to go for the overall style of ff, and in most ff's drk used a great sword, that is the ICONIC, DRK, Cecil, etc., just like 99% of DRG don't have wyverns in FF. I get that you thought it was cool cause it had it, but for most ff fans (I played xi, but most ff fans did not), they see drk having a GS and not a scythe, just saying.

Let DRG get Liberator, who cares. It's not Apocalypse and I don't see DRG having a weapon skill called Catastrophe ever.

so its the same reason why you would say "paladin needs a sword and shield" and a monk wielding hand to hand weapons... as you would say for the DRK in Final Fantasy having scythes.

Have you played even Final Fantasy XI? seems not..

Have you ever played any other Final Fantasy game but FFXI? Dark Knight in FFXI is the exception, not the rule. In every other game, they use Great Swords. Let's not forget the DKs in XI could also use Great Swords, and many did and still do. Leon in FF2 could use Longinus, so they have even had spears. But never scythes until XI.

And I'm pretty sure most of the people on this forum have in fact played XI and other FF titles.

thats the way its going to be like. (in my opinion... totally boring)

they destroyed smn for me so why not DRK as if i havent seen enough swords in any MMO the past years. but well.

When dark knight is going to be the second job for gld. it would be even more likely that this job uses swords, too. the slight difference will be then, that gld/pld uses one hand, and the drk 2Hand swords.

your post was the best btw. in contrast to those "but scythe is a harvesting tool for the death" comparisons which are right far away from what animes and eastern fantasy can be about.

Considering that DRG doesn't have a pet, SCH now does, BRDs use bows, and WAR is 100% a tank again. I don't think XI matters at all for jobs in this game. <.<
