PLEASE, stop teaching/telling new healers to DPS

1. Haukke Manor, i tank as pld, newbie blm, dragoon and a lv37 scholar. SCH was dpsing all time (without CS, but whatever).
2. 2nd boss, i pop all cd and still die very fast, -??? Then i noticed SCH keeps the pet on HEEL and not healing at all (fairies have very short healing radius).
3. Dragoon died 2nd and quit the team, i left too since there was no longer a penalty.

That's just a bad healer, Haukke Manor is really easy to heal with SCH, your pet can do 80% of the healing needed and if I don't DPS in Haukke Manor I'm not doing anything for the most part. Even on the Bosses it's not hard to DPS and keep the tank nice and healthy at the same time.

One thing I would say in defence of the healer you're referring to though is that I wouldn't expect SCH to have Cleric Stance in a dungeon below level 40, Protect, Swiftcast and Stoneskin are all more important than Cleric Stance, especially in the duty finder.

Cleric, Protect, Swift, Aero, Stoneskin. The optimal order. Stoneskin is pretty pointless in dungeons. Protect is pretty pointless in dungeons below 20.

Actually Swift is also pretty pointless in early dungeons so I'd move it later to have Aero sooner. Nothing should be killing fairy.

I'm not the most confident of healers in this game but my take on it is that I take the defensive stuff first and DPS with whatever recources I have left afterwards. While leveling my priority order for cross class skills has been Swiftcast - Protect - Stoneskin - Cleric Stance - Aero. The low level stuff is easy but people are stil learning their roles, DPS pull too much hate and don't avoid battle mechanics, tanks don't have/use cooldowns as effectively and don't dodge mechanics and as the healer I'm learning too. The healer is the safety net of the group so defensive/restoration abilities come first in my opinion.

Remember this thread is about new healers, not Coil T5 seasoned vets doing low level roulette for shiggles.

My advice isn't just for vets. Pointless to have Swiftcast that early because nothing in the 10-30 stretch is going to kill the fairy (so no resummoning needed), and you have no other long casts. Nothing should even be killing a player until maybe Haukke (~30), which is great because combat raise isn't until the mid 20s for either healer. Stoneskin is a waste of time that low.

A healer who didn't cast a single heal when first tanker and then dragoon were dying probably didn't even know she had to heal lol.
My idea behind mentioning CS is because it adds around 40% dps in i30 gear, so a healer dpsing without it is a first sign of him/her being new and inexperienced.
Another example from today: brayflox manor, i tank as pld, sch is using bane on every pull (without CS) and massively overhealing me (casting physick/adloquium if i am below 90% of hp), then he gets all adds on him and starts to spam physick on self, so i cannot take adds from him anymore. He was running low on mana at every pull of 3-4 mobs. It would be ok if he dpsed, but let the fairy to heal me (must Place her and stop overhealing). I think this basic stuff is more important to learn than doing some extra damage.
