I hope your kidding, with cleric stance up the only thing a healer doesn't match a DPS with is abilities. But stat wise should be pretty well the same and your spells should hit every bit as hard as a DPS hits an enemy. Every dungeon I run on my SCH I'll DPS whenever I have a chance, and I can see a huge difference when I DPS a run compared to when I play on my tank/DPS with a healer who refuses to do any DPS. The bottom line is healers were meant to provide SOME level of damage in this game except for some of the top tier content where things just hit so hard you can't avoid heal spamming. But if all you're doing in all other content is spamming heals, you're either new or bad.

Yes, which are actually a significant source of damage. I play both SMN and SCH and it's very obvious to me that the damage I pump out on my SMN is ridiculously higher. Fester + Raging Strikes + Pet etc. Not even counting the ease of pewpewing with my SMN hotbar over my SCH hotbar since one is more attuned to damage while the other is for healing. Then there's the fact that I DO occasionally have to switch stances to heal...

    If I wanted to DPS I would, I don't know...PLAY A DPS CLASS?????

And again, if you find time as a healer to pewpew away so successfully why are you not just speed running and pulling multiple mobs?

I'm not saying a healer should never DPS but it is the furthest thing from a requirement that they do. You're not dead? Great. I have done my job 100% and you have nothing to complain about. If I decide to put in that extra 10% it is because I felt like it. Not because it is what distinguishes me from all those "bad" healers.

Can't believe this is thread is still going in.

A healer that only heals and everyone lives, is a good healer, period end of story.

A healer that keeps everyone alive and DPSs speeding up the run and thus making things faster and reducing risk of pain because of shorter fights is a great healer.

The only thing that makes a healer bad is they they ignore healing so they can DPS. However, a tank does not need to be at 100% HP for 100% of the time except maybe in coil. This not being at 100% should not make anyone think the healer isn't doing their job.

Again, A healer that doesn't DPS but keeps everyone alive even if they are just standing around is a good healer.

Completely agree dps'ing is one thing , but totally inexcusable if it causes a wipe.

Just had a run a couple nights ago doing Wanderer's Palace, a tank begging me to spam holy for the Slime boss fight on the adds, and to spam holy for the final boss on the tonberry adds. Really? Asking a healer to do the job that dps people are suppose to be doing? Wow. Rather pathetic. Most people just don't realize how expensive it is to cast Holy. What happens when a healer runs out of mana just because they "had" to spam holy so dps people can be lazy and ignore the mechanics of the fight. Why is it the healer's job to kill adds so dps can focus on the boss? That's just being lazy. I would never allow my self to stand next to the slime boss and risk getting the debuffs that will cripple you, and then suddenly you're marked by the boss to run away from. My job is to cleanse these debuffs and keep people alive. Furthermore, the last boss hits the tank very hard every once in a while which requires to be topped up again to full health, any less than that you run the risk of having the tank dying. I play healer to keep people alive, not to play dps. If I wanted to dps, I'd play a dps job. So ya, stop asking healers to do the dps's job. Asking a healer to dps just so dps people can be lazy does not make them a good player or learn how to do mechanics right. Maybe the healers can start telling the Paladins to go heal themselves just because they can so healers can just be lazy and dps instead. Paladin dies? it's the tank's fault for not healing to keep them up. Same logic should apply if people ask healers to dps. Oh wait...lets ask SMN to heal too since they can. Sure, SMN heals and healers can dps. Lets make this game more retarded than their intended roles. Cleric stance is there to allow healers to solo stuff, not to help dps with their laziness and shortfalls. I'll thank you to let me do my job as everyone else do their jobs as intended.

    2) None of the debuffs on the 2nd boss's adds are AoE. They are single-target, so they will typically be on the tank or a DPS. If you're using Holy, they'll generally either be dead or stunned before it's an issue.
    3) The false argument of asking SMN to DPS and heal is ridiculous because they don't have a toggle ability that lets them alternate between good healer and good DPSer.
