FFXIV isnt very creative, its not fun in most cases, it offers no challenge, the coding is crap, servers seem as well (since SE mentions it as an excuse whenever they can). And it has restrictions everywhere. A lot of active players are boters, especially crafters and gatherers... Thats why its not fun, if it was, less people would do it.

The game doesnt need to be a wow clone, not a ffxi clone to be successeful, but it lacks ideas a lot, it lacks "love", creativity, fun and intuitive smooth gameplay, a good fast ui, better, faster menus, voice acting (its not about money honestly). A lot of companies make millions over millions by being unique and special. But they do their job damn good and right. That is the great challenge SE has now. So far they did a poor and incredibly slow job. So i expect the game to be on par with other games (not meaning as a copy of wow) within another year at the earliest.
Well said. I think that's why Demon's Souls was such a hit really. It did things differently but they actually put effort into their game.
