I am always amazed at how much people will exert the energy to care about what someone else is doing. U want to wear a dress i just don't care, have at it. Your dress doesn't improve or detract from the game. I rather Se worry about improving the real problems in this game. This side track to politicalville is great for a news forum tho.

But that's neither here nor there. I wasn't actually being patronizing in that comment, I think you're probably just a bit hyper-defensive after some of the posts in this thread.

My example was to illustrate how truly arbitrary all these lines being drawn actually are. The controversy wouldn't exist at all if more people adopted a more care-free attitude. We're fantasy characters in a game that lets men and women wear bondage outfits (the colliseum armors) for crying outloud, where men can wear bright pink robes, but a 'real' dress is going to push the game over the edge? I don't see that happening.

I'm really glad there's a lot of really cool people in here attempting to stand up for wanting this to happen in game.

Is it likely this will be allowed in game? Sadly no. Square is a Japanese company after all, and the general attitude about LGBTQ+ folks in Japan is not one of positivity. Not saying that Yoshi-P would care (I don't know), but there might be a big backlash over it at the company level. And that sucks, a lot.
But is it wrong for players to want it? No.

I know plenty of people that play male characters that would enjoy the ability to wear the currently female only gear because they're RPing and their character is genderqueer or an androgyne and they'd like the ability to follow through with that. I'm certain they're not alone in that.

And also, some people just like the aesthetic design of the female clothing on the male bodies. It might take a bit more work for the male Roegadyn since their bodies are so much broader than the female Roegadyn (and it might look strange if not done well, but that's beside the point).

1. No crafted gear are gender-locked (except the underwears)
2. The dress is crafted gear
3. crafted gear can change the appearance depending on the gender who wear it (a gear that is a dress on a female can be pants on male)

Every gender can wear it, even if they don't look the same.
I think the best example for point 3 is the WHM pants. Mini skirt versus boxer shorts. Or the harness gears.
