Prisms aren't equipped, they're consumed like a dye. So I imagine it will be like the dyes, you can obtain as many as you want, but before you unlock via the quest they can't be used.Mostly asking since, while the sentence itself would make sense, comparing it to dyes doesn't make sense in that context is all. Dyes can't be applied until you get the quest, but that quest is a relatively low-level quest (level 15 I believe? idk. Orange juice). But a glamour prism seems like it will be a physical item you put on once you add equipment to the glamour. So does that mean you can't "equip" the glamour prism item until you unlock the quest to MAKE glamour prism items, or CAN you equip it BEFORE 50, but just not MAKE a prism item until 50?
orz my head hurts thinking about all this
SE why make it 50. Seriously. That's all this boils down to for me is just a really bad decision for glamour.

50s can send prisms like you can do with dyes
50s can't prism an item then send it to an alt (since it spiritbinds it)
lowbie alts can store the prisms in their bags I believe (like you can do with dyes)
lowbie alts won't be able to use said prisms until the quest is completed at 50
With those rules, lowbies cannot glamour in any way until they complete the quest.
Some of the clarifications in the post are very welcome (like not losing any gear and being able to undo glamours). The level 50 thing is really unfortunate though. I hope too that they will soon clarify the part about "same type". I think we all want the flexibility to have any piece of gear look like any other piece of gear (ex: coliseum shawl that looks like a velveteen coatee). Or has this already been ixnayed?
Plenty, if you try to make good outfit combinations. I'm a vanity whore, I need all my alts to look pretty. And a lot of the armor in the game isn't pretty, so I'd rather like to replace them with things that ARE pretty. Like replacing my AF2 gear look on Dragoon with the original AF gear's look. I don't want to be a neon sign.

It could've easily been made available to lower levels. I see very little reason to make it locked behind level 50 when it's something ALL level ranges would want.
To all these people complaining about the quest being level 50 I have one word....SERIOUSLY?!?!? Without much effort most people can easily take a character from level 1 - 50 in about a week through spamming dungeons. Even playing casually on a dps class you should be able to gain a level every 2 dungeons with rested xp and FC bonus (if your not in a FC then crawl out from under your rock and join one).
Even with a 30 minute wait time to join PF and a 30 minute run that's a level every 2 hours. Let's not forget you can get from 1 - 20 in about 6 hours (probably even less). So on a fresh character 6 hours + (30 x 2) is about 66 hours. If your only playing 2 hours a day (very casual) you should still be able to get to 50 in a month. Keep in mind this is extremely casual and could be done a lot faster (like a single weekend).
The person who said they were level 47...3 or 4 AV runs, or better yet create a AV first room xp group and it can be done in about 2 hours.Jesus you people complain about everything. I'm pretty sure if SE said "here i'm going to give you a full set max level gear the second you log in" some of you would still find a reason to complain about it.

Agreed. I was looking forward for the day where I could dress my character in combat how I always wanted too. So I hope it's not limited by material/fabric type. And just by class/job requirement. Some of the clarifications in the post are very welcome (like not losing any gear and being able to undo glamours). The level 50 thing is really unfortunate though. But honestly I fear the worst at this point. S-E tends to build a steady reputation of limiting the fun stuff...

Based entirely off bullcrap so I could be wrong. Some of the clarifications in the post are very welcome (like not losing any gear and being able to undo glamours). But I think "same type" means "Chest piece -to- Chest piece". Little obvious, but there ya go.
"Furthermore, gear used to cast glamours will be bound upon use of a glamour prism."
This probably means both the base item -and- the projected item? So no buying/crafting something, copying its appearance, then selling it on the market board? Oh well.
"The base and projected items are of the same type."
Does this just mean you can't make a sword look like an axe, or pants look like a hat? Because, okay, I don't think anyone was expecting that. Or does "type" mean something more, like you can't make plate armor look like mail, leather, or cloth armor? Because that would be a unnecessarily lame restriction, IMO.
