Would you be upset if the game went offline?

Personally, I wouldn't mind.

I think it is safe to say that one of the big issues with this game is the lack of content. It launched like that, and so whenever they patch in more content, the current players (generalizing here, I'm not talking about newbies or people that play 1 hour a week) will burn through it so quickly because they have little else to do. But if they took the game down for awhile and accumulated a good stockpile of content, then they could add future content patches without having the players jump on said content like a pack of starving wolves on a deer. I guess what I'm thinking is that they could use some time to play "catch up".

The practical part of me realizes that it may not be a good idea to take the servers down though, lest people simply forget about FFXIV and move on. I think it would be hard for a lot of us to say if we would come back or not in, say, 6 months or a year. I certainly don't know how much I will like (or hate) the upcoming MMO's I am thinking of playing. But I sure won't be playing this game in 6 months anyway unless it is vastly improved.

Lie - Kam is ready to flock back in 2 years, no questions asked. Why wouldn't you risk wasting more time two years from now on a game that has proven to be trash?

I for one will have moved on as well as most of the players of this game.

That won't really matter though considering the population of this game is already so low. Under normal circumstances I would understand how taking realms down would only cause harm - with how thongs are now though, I think a fresh launch after things are fixed are our best bet.

Joeking made it clear there isn't a door to hit me. Here's a novel idea, leave for 2 years and come back once its accrued 2 years of improvements while we are playing as the improvements are coming in, we will have enjoyed it for 2 years because 1.18 is the START OF THE FUN WEEEEEEE!

They have separate servers they do their work on. Taking down the live servers won't do anything.

Seriously? its this sort of doom and gloom thread that makes me want to stick my fingers in my ears and scream LALALALALA... or the internet equivalent there of. SE hasnt been giving us trickling updates, they've barely touched the game for months beyound the odd tweak. Either they are holding back content they have been/are working on or they arent doing anything and if they arent doing anything i'm not seeing how taking the servers down will solve that problem.

edit: Wait till 1.18 then complain. We havent had a Real content patch yet so we have very little idea of exactly how fast they are working, sure they havent fixed small niggly things but i guess they arent priorities right now. If SE say they need to take the game down fine i will probbably check it out when its back.
