Get over it. Games have microtransactions now. WoW got away with being P2P and having a cash shop and now other companies are following the trend. These companies are businesses and they want to make money. If you don't like it, leave. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's just an extra retainer. One less coffee from starbucks a month can buy you four extra retainers. QQ more when there is something worth complaining about, like a boosted character to level cap for $50.

Well, certainly with that attitude, consumers will never get a deal that's good for them. I'm sure the companies love you and people like you, though, who are willing to accept every little extra charge they throw at you.

It's a matter of picking and choosing your fights. I unsubed from wow when they released the level 90 character boost. I did not like what blizzard did; yet I understood why they did it. I left because it was not palatable to me and I was not bitter at Blizzard for trying to make more money. It's what companies do and SE is not going to lose many subscribers over a dollar retainer. SE will likely get a revenue bump from the side service. Also, in all honesty, you have to be a severe hoarder to need a third retainer. I don't imagine many people NEEDING a third retainer.


If you want to plant your feet in the ground over a dollar for extra storage space, go ahead. Just seems like a lot of effort for a tiny insignificant addition SE is adding their game service.

I feel a need to draw the line against putting in-game functions and features behind a pay wall. Server transfers, race changes, and similar external transactions? Go for it. I might even stomach the occasional mount or pet (but only if the game has a large number of options already). But blocking full use of in-game functions like that is not okay in a subscription-based MMO.

Considering the amount of people who willingly embrace getting low quality updates for their money, that boosted character probably isn't too far off.
