    Please Help Simulation Sickness Sufferers.

Firstly to those users seeing this and not knowing what Simulation Sickness is here is a handy little video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvimYs7tnRM

I've been a gamer all my life but have never gotten over my simulation sickness.. It is mainly a thing in Elder Scrolls games, FPS and Minecraft and I can usually adjust to it after a week of playing that game.. but something I have not been able to adjust to is the camera movement on FFXIV.

More specifically the camera hitting an object and zooming into your character and then zooming back out again really fast. For someone with my affliction this is very very bad and I have noticed it alot more after buying our FC house. We bought a medium and have used walls to make it look bigger (sounds weird but it actually works lol) but I feel nauseated while moving round the house, especially on the stairs because the camera snaps so fast and spins... it's not good let me tell you and it will be hard to grasp for someone who has never had the problem.

Please SE, I know you said it would be hard to implement transparent objects.. but I would like some sort of effort to fix this and I know it would make the tanks happy too that they dont have to tank at extremely weird angles cos everything zooms in. It would also help on fights like garuda where there are rocks and if you go behind them by accident (vague example) you can become disorientated.

Fully support this. Every time there is a boss fight my camera zooms in because invisible walls pop up.

Your sig image contradicts that a bit, Denzel. I think it's hilarious.

But at least a smoother camera experience on those "quick bumps" would be nice, indeed.

As a developer ( apologies, we try ;--; but fail.)

Adding in transparent occlusion causes a lot of issue when designing the overall geometry of a scene, it can often ruin the look of things or cause major visual issues.

(I.E) the camera clipping through revealing the circumference of the skybox for the scene (Which is what would happen in FFXIV)
It's a much easier solution to have the camera zoom in when it comes into contact with geometry instead, (even if it causes Simulation Sickness).

This is actually a problem we encountered this week when testing our game, we opted for the camera to zoom in, instead of having the geometry in the scene.
When we tried to have an object occlusion version it presented more graphical errors than we thought it would through wall/scene clippings due to the way the levels were designed (very similar to how XIV designs levels) to the point where we simply HAD to put it as a camera zoom function.

100% in support of this.. also OP THANK YOU!

I have always just told people games make me motion sick (usually followed by confused comments/questions, or statements about how it's weird). I had absolutely no idea that there was actually a name for what I was experiencing, or that it was such a wide issue that developers actively look for ways to reduce it.

I first noticed it when watching my friend play Oblivion on release. I would get very sick very quick.. as the video says it does get better with time and i can usually get used to a game in about a week.. but with FFXIVs random zoomy camera i can never adjust and am left feeling ill.. i dont even go into our medium house now that we worked so hard for cos of how spinny the camera gets.. only solution is to get the whip out and get us a larger house lol

i understand everything you said.. and i know it takes from the game if you can see through stuff.. but its not just sim sickness sufferers who are affected by this.. boss mechanics often require you to pull a boss to an edge, God forbid you get a corner though cos then you have no chance lol i tend to go side on with my camera when tanking but its not optimal
