The problem isn't that they didn't do it, it's that they couldn't. Doing so would have invited potential lawsuits from DC and whoever runs DCUO. You don't make something novel like their style system and not copyright it.Although I'm not going to be one to obsess over the glamour system in FFXIV at all, I am disappointed in the way this is going to be done.
I had hoped that they would take a page from the way DCUO does "styles" as it gives such a level of flexibility and uniqueness to how a person can make their character look.
In DCUO if you obtain a piece of armor and equip it, you forever have that "style" available to you as an option to wear while keeping the stats of your current gear.
It's the simplest implementation of a "glamour" system, and offers the most customization to the player.
