Here is an example of one of boss fight from Secret of Mana that uses heavy Kecak theme:

I disagree one excludes the other, sorry. You missed the point a bit.

Your example from SoM sure is a full-blown direction of the whole piece, though. Soken used a few rhythms based on Kecak and emulated them in certain aspects of the music, such as one of the riff guitars. The choir is also reminiscent of it, but it fits the general heavy rock orientation of Titan's theme. What happened there? He took Kocak ELEMENTS and ADAPTED them into the song. It's not meant to be a cover. It doesn't need to be 100% one thing to make you think of it.

That sounds cool I'd love to here some of the older games music reworked into various fights and dungeons and I never player 1.0 but I've liked the music that I have heard.

It is fair honestly - We went from varied battle themes based on area and even guildleves utilizing area themes in them to...the same theme with a different set of instruments. How is that not technically a downgrade?

Maybe when Mizuta gets to compose for this game (hopefully the expansion) we'll get more of that "feeling" back. Soken's stuff is nice, but the way they did the music just makes it feel subpar in comparison for the majority.

Holy crap, some people just complain about every ****ing little thing in the game.

Uematsu made some great songs for the game, and so did Soken, but you'd need to pull your head out of the hole you stuck it in ever since 1.0 closed down/you left FFXI to be able to realize it.

Haha... Can't argue with that. BTW, there's typo I highlighted there. "Kocak" means hillarious or amusing to english speaker. Just a bit trivia from my language. lol

The funny thing is, this post pretty much states you need to like anything and everything FFXIV or your head is "stuck in a hole" - So in other words, you like the absolute silence you hear most of the time in the majority of this game's content (storyline dungeons) and how there's barely any zone music (and very short loops at that) and the reusing of the same battle theme with a different set of instruments?

More power to you, but just because people liked what Square Enix did with the previous Final Fantasy XIV version doesn't mean they have their head in the ground. Even Maplestory has looped music.

    Maple. Story.

    It's not a complaint.

Exactly. Naoshi Mizuta (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) , the only one who can bring the feeling back together with Uematsu. The tremendous feeling downgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 happened especially in the music, setting and exploration. And the one to blame is Yoshi-P sadly. Most of team (Soken too) he brought has nothing to do with Final Fantasy. In the truth, even Yoshi-P had nothing to do with FF saga before and this is mainly an Enix MMORPG with FF quotes inside, not anymore a Squaresoft work. The difference is huge and people who know what I am talking about can feel it.

The only outsider from the original team actually in SE who could care about the music into a Squaresoft's world Tanaka always showed to us is Kumi Tanioka.

I'll leave this here. While Uematsu will be missed, I for one LOVE what Soken has done so far:
