Actually Dano is correct, there's a reason Louisoix and Van Darnus don't say anything. Van Darnus was killed and absorbed by Dalamud/Bahamut. What we see of him is nothing more than an aetheric projection and if my theory is correct on memories being able to be altered by aether (the reason why NPCs did not remember the 1.0 players) then we may be able to use the Echo on Van Darnus and Louisoix...in Louisoix's case we'll be able to see what happened at the Battle of Cartaneau Flats.

i don't think it's about Echo . Alisae didn't have the Echo but she saw Her Grandfather as well.

The only correct answer is that people who watched the Turn 5 cutscene know that Darnus is walking around in some capacity. No one knows how they, why they are, or what they are.
