I look at it this way, my generation was lucky. When I started gaming on the internet I was playing with generation X people. They were largely brought up as kids with very little anonymity via life in general. Now my generation the 80's kids are a mixed bag of politeness and anonymous ass hats. Now skip ahead two generations to know, Internet anonymity is at an all time high, kids are raised on this, and thus creating your filter less douchebaggery you see today. No help from my generation either which seems to be very bitter. Lol
That wasn't that bad, I've seen waaay worse.
Sad that ppl act that way![]()
He was a new player. You can probably bet he hadn't farmed for much gear if he couldn't take the time to unlock his job. So he's a newbie, probably undergeared, inexperienced, and could use all the help he can get. Are you really saying him not unlocking Warrior wouldn't help him? I get that some of us are accustomed to the dungeons and we could do it without issue, but you shouldn't make excuses for lazy people.Basic requirements? You hardly even use Defiance in Qarn anymore. Nothing hits hard enough to care, so you're better off just bashing without the damage reduction 90% of the time. You never need it, either; Terataur's pony is Doom, the golem doesn't hardly attack the tank at all, and the final guardian hits like a wet paper sack. I accidentally queued and completed Qarn as GLA once, and that is far worse than doing it as MRD because PLD gets bonus damage where WAR does not.
If he hasn't unlocked WAR, he probably doesn't have the appropriate cross-class abilities to make MRD as effective anyway. That's all beside the point, because it just doesn't matter at all. You will get through that dungeon just fine without WAR. It's like protesting about a tank's HP at the Demon Wall. Yeah, would be nice if you could completely forgo healing for the entire fight and just DPS, but it's not even close to a dealbreaker. The reason this entire thing is so utterly egregious is that it's a completely trivial matter that made the healer rage.He was a new player. I remember the days of instruction booklets and phone calls to video game hotlines to get tips and information about games.
In a video games like this and other MMOs, it's now about asking people in game or watching videos made by other gamers.
Looking back at it all, I've played this game from beta, and I've probably only run into 10%-20% of "the community" who are asshats. (<-----great word. More socially acceptable)
I wouldn't mesh the small number into the huge mesh of the rest. Coming from a first time MMO player who started and continues as a tank role, if The Community was majority bad, I would not have stayed playing.
I think the jerks really are a small number. And even then some of those come around.
Report the asshats and jerks. Or ignore them. I learned feeding their fires only made it worse.
People point out that the mean things people do in this game is mainly verbal, telling someone what they should be doing, a lot of times being insulting at the same time. One of the worst things I can remember from XI was leveling in Crawler's nest, you could wait to finally get in a group, you get your spot, then 30 minutes later, have a black mage come running up on your group with an exoray and warp out so the enemy would be left there to kill your group, so his group could steal your spot. This happened all the time back on Shiva when the game was still new here, in my mind that is worse than telling someone they are wasting a groups time for not doing job quests.

A Beastmaster would lock down the zone! (pre bst nerf 2005)
