I'm sorry, but you are kidding yourself if you think the FFXI community was better than this. In a game that allowed Linkshell leaders to screw their members over, steal banks, copious amounts of account theft, and not to mention griefing by MPK and other means?

Please. I can see you miss it but... If you think that you must have only played during the Abyssea years.

As long as you stayed away from HNMs and Dynamis it was better. I played for seven years and never had to deal with the stuff you're talking about, aside from MPK. Which rarely happened to me intentionally. It was usually because someone was making a desperate bid to save their own skin and killed others in the process.

It was rampant in any end game scene regardless of the server. To avoid it you more or less needed to stay out of end game entirely. Most active end game LS did Dynamis, Sky, Sea, Limbus, HNM, and Einherjar. Not counting salvage because most people had statics for that.

I suppose if you never touched end game then you might be able to avoid some of it, that's true - However, I'm saying the opportunities that game had to breed negative encounters compared to this one were much higher.

Not true at all. Try going into df/pf content and not know rotations, phases, dodge, etc and you'll get treated terribly. This games end game content is far worst than FFXI. You simply can't do any content outside of your inner circle in this game without having a high probability of being raged at or the party disbands in a try or two.

Guess I'm looking at it from an end game perspective of someone who mainly stayed within their LS. I don't ever join PF or DF groups, as I lead an FC and do everything internally. I was commenting on how I felt the community in FFXI was more toxic due to the fact that the game afforded players more opportunities to screw each other over. I don't really think of text arguments as toxic, but things like MPK, griefing and theft I would consider actually toxic.

On my server there wasn't really much mpking going on. Competition does create some toxic behavior but since reputation was such a big deal players were more careful.

In FFXIV it's a different kind of toxicity. Since you don't really do much outside of your inner circle it won't be much of an issue but trust me it's extremely terrible. You hear horror stories on here about CT, PF, DF, etc everyday.
