Reputation mattered in FFXI so you didn't have the huge amount of trolls like in FFXIV. It kept most rude players in check or they went to WoW.

If agree any further we would have to make a religion.
Goodbye, Final Fantasy...
Did we even play the same game? You make it sound as if XI was some Utopia filled with kind people. It was filled with douchebags and the occasional genuinely nice person, just like this game. It was literally the same casual circle jerk and "QQ elitists are mean" community.

I guess you did not play the same i played from 2003-2010.
Even parties are respectful to each other, how often you see /bow in FFXIV? lmao
Please explain to me how after doing something together as a group, how do the parties disband? leave without telling anything?
How about when parties waiting for others members to join? how often do people leave the pt without saying anything?
Players don't even have the courtesy to say, "sry gonna join the other pt, this party is not gathering members fast enough" or even a simple "hey guys sry im dropping pt"
I guess you like that kinda attitude, im sorry i dont, this community is sure as hell not like FFXI... where people drop pt without warning, fight for 5 mins and disband, rage quit like there is no tomorrow.
Those are not rare occasions, sadly those are general way of doing things in FFXIV.
Absolutely NO COMMUNICATION.
Goodbye, Final Fantasy...
About as much as I did in XI. Part of that has to do with the fact that the group doesn't have to be in the same zone when you do a piece of content "lmao".
Sit around and chat, just like we did in our Linkshells on Cait Sith. I even *gasp* meet new people and add them to my friends list when doing PUGs.
A bit more than in XI, but I don't see it as an issue. Most people will talk if others initiate a conversation.
I saw people ditch xp parties all the time in XI. Did you ever do merit parties? It was normal for people to join, farm like mad, then leave.
Because I'm not blind to the similarities between the communities, I condone bad behavior? wat.
Yeah, we definitely played a different game. I never bought the sunshine and unicorns expansion to XI I guess. XI had a great community sometimes, but your nostalgia is seriously blinding you from how that community actually was. I can tell you never participated any HNMs. The community is what you make of it. Engage in positive behavior and it will be reciprocated, but if you keep pining for a community that never existed (XI) you're going to leave disappointed.

Yay, another positive thread on this forum to keep people's spirits up.
To the OP, the healer was harassing the tank. The right thing to do in this situation is to report the healer using the in-game reporting tool. Anonymous shaming does nothing to help the game community.

Even if not, how often a new member that join a party even says hello anymore? i been in dungeons where no one even typed a single letter.
a bit more? its a daily occurrence in PF. In a duration of single PF, u will at least get 1 person join and leave(even before the PF fills up).A bit more than in XI, but I don't see it as an issue. Most people will talk if others initiate a conversation.
No one ditched just in a flash, Reputation matter in FFXI, unlike FFXIV. Remember waiting for replacement don't you? i guess you met lot of those bad players huh? i hardly saw much like that, maybe it has to do with the groups people we associated with.I saw people ditch xp parties all the time in XI. Bad player(the trolls and disrespectful) in FFXI were treated like a dog with rabies.
FFXI community was in fact much better compared to FFXIV, maybe because they required you to strategize a lot, or maybe because Most of the NA's picked up on the JP's gaming respect for individuals, idk. That is lacking in FFXIV for sure.Yeah, we definitely played a different game. I can tell you never participated any HNMs. The community is what you make of it. I can tell you about my 4 yrs HNM career (i believe i was the 14th NA server wide to obtain Ebody back in early 2005, where most of the NA were still fighting sky gods, the name is Synapse) but i think that is depressing, it was nothing but drama, then again, i see many people use HNM scene as FFXI to bash in these forums, so not surprised.
I enjoyed these interactions in the other aspects of the games, such as limbus, dynamis, besieged, and those whole CoP, aht urgan contents, even going as much as TP burn parties and pankrations.

I have to disagree with you. Your evidence is anecdotal, as is everyone else's (including mine). A lot of people, myself included, had very bad experiences with FFXI. You're discounting all them just because you found a nice group to play with. No, people didn't leave straight off, but there are plenty of parties that were quick to kick people when the exp per hour wasn't being met. And plenty of parties to kick and berate people who didn't have the proper classes leveled. I joined several years after the game came out, and I can tell you finding help as a newbie was not the easiest thing, and folks went straight to insults above help more often than not when I was clueless about something (where to level, and how to get there being a prime example). I didn't last very long in that game, so I didn't even get to the whole NM portion of it (though with spawn camping, stealing the tag/kill that I've heard stories of, combined with the elitism I experienced just trying to level I don't think it'd be better). Without friends, and after launch, that game was horrific. Just as I imagine being a new player with no friends in this is. You're sure to run into some jerks that want to kick you out of a run for it, or berate you for what you don't know.No one ditched just in a flash, Reputation matter in FFXI, unlike FFXIV. I don't see anyone bashing FFXI. I see a lot of people trying to point out to you that it's just like every other MMO. Experience is going to vary, and just like in FFXI where your best bet was to find a group of nice individuals who had your same ideals and goals. People you got along with and found it fun to play with. The exact same goes for FFXIV. I have never had a problem with the community, but I mainly stick to my FC and a few pugs here or there. I don't do Primal duty finder things. I do Duty Roulette, and the large majority of those go over fine. The pre-made (non duty finder groups) I have done have never had the problems people mention where folks drop immediately.
The only thing I will say (and again, this goes for -any- MMO) is that finding said group of people was easier when duty finders didn't exist. People from the same server actually ran together on a regular basis and that's how I found a few of the guilds I use to run with in my WoW days. That's also true of Rift prior to it having a dungeon finder, and any other game that has included one.
