Vit or Str accessories for tanks?

I've done quite a bit of pvp, and in most of my experience, tanks are usually killed last, and only targeted by CC.

My stuns/damage/minor heals are an asset to my team for sure, but wearing dps accessories leaves me with only 300~ more hp than my healers. If I get targeted by a tenacious pair of dps, I can die, although this occurance is very rare.

Main question is, if no one targets tanks to begin with because of their HP, are fending accessories needed later to actually back this up, or will I be better off with more damage from the dps stuff?

As more of a broader question, what is a tank's true role in pvp? Interrupter? Guardian with Cover, Testudo, Stoneskin, and/or Flash? Or just straight bursty damage with Full Swing + offense cooldowns?

I'm guessing that PLD falls into the guardian role, MRD straight burst, GLA somewhere in between, then WAR as a lone wolf style berserker or something. Related, if anyone has a reupload of Warrage's pvp videos, I'd like to see them.

Go with all strength as you can, strength jewelry and use 10k GC pts to get bonus +30 strength.

As a pld, you have both role, harrassing with burst+CC and cover your mates with testudo, cover. PLD is very strong but you need some assist to kill someone, MRD dont need any help to kill someone but he cannot offer an efficient help for his mate.

MRD for god mode in damage (you can easily win 2or3 vs 1) , PLD for teamplay

All of the above. Sit on spellcasters and learn how to layer your auto-attacks and weaponskills to interrupt and force a target into Equanimity. Always watch the flow of combat and know when is best to Cover/Testudo your healer or Holmgang/Mythril Tempest to deny or enable a kill. Rotate stuns on everybody for maximum agitation. Flash blind every melee train you see. Better yet, just Flash as a way of saying "hello" to an enemy team's melee.

Fending is not necessary when you're rarely targeted. Go full Striking right side.

Tank's role in the current implementation is pressure DPS. You sit on players and force the enemy team on the defensive, peel for your team when necessary, use your cooldowns/stuns wisely and open up with Full Swing when an opportunity arises.

    - PLD is burst, stunlock and has lots of defensive capabilities to protect their team
    - GLA is worthless, don't do it
    - WAR is a literal tank, but nothing more than novelty
    - MRD is burst on steroids with sparse cross-class utility, a meat grinder that gets to tunnel on targets until they die

Gotcha, layering auto attacks is kind of a pain with this netcode, but it's worth noticing.

GLA is actually slightly more viable in 40s, they get an ilvl 43 weapon(+2 wpn dmg over the best lvl 40 MRD axe), and all PLD has is Cover and Sword Oath at the loss of a bunch of offense cooldowns (B4B, IR, Raging)

I might try MRD, but I do like the CC that I get from Flash and Shield Bash. I'm guessing Mythril Tempest is a lot worse of a skill in 40s, due to no Holmgang to prevent my target being thrown away.

You say ippiki pls like you know me or something

Yeah, GLA/MRD would be worthwhile in lower brackets, but I have no experience in those. I speak solely from high level play. Spirits Within and Cover alone are enough to stay PLD for me.

I think people are seriously underestimating the PLD. You can solo kill a healer if they make a mistake, if they play well, you'll need another dps to help you. But with that, we have cover, which in my experience is great, it saves the healer and I survive too. We can pop HG and take 2 people on at once if there is 2 vs 1 or even 3 if the other players aren't as experienced, followed by nice stuns focusing down 1 at a time. Can mess their accuracy with flash, aoe all slightly, then pop sentinel to make the rest of dmg miniscule. I personally wear all STR gear atm, maybe when RVR pops out I may switch, depends how it will be. Honestly any class played well by a certain player will seem perfect, find the one that suits you. I play Paladin/knight/sword-shield/tank classes all my life, it's just my niche.

3v1 is a Warrior's art and Hallowed Ground should be used solely to /emote the enemy team if they manage to outplay you
