I'd say there's a high chance it's an original demi-mammalian race.
Medium chance it's a bunny race (not Vierra but XIV's original version).
Low chance it's a demi-reptilian/dragon/demon race with horns.
Very low chance it's a XIV version of Bangaa/Ronso or any other previous FF race.
Very low chance it's a mix of existing races or new clan of existing race.
Virtually no chance of full mammalian or full reptilian (based off standing posture in pic).
Virtually no chance it's actually Vierra (so stop saying "I hope it's Vierra??").

On a side note, it would be nice to have this race be between Miqo'te and Lalafell in height. Roegadyn>Elezen>Hyur>Miqo'te gradates pretty evenly down, but suddenly drops down for Lalafell.



Personally, I'd like an original race. I don't mind a bunny race but I hope if so, it's visually different enough from Vierra to come into it's own.

I kid, however I personally thought a beastmen race would add in some variety. (IE, halfhuman-half[animalhere])
The fact they're having to seek asylum in Eorzea as complete outsiders would make it a welcome change and a fantastic story-line.

People who hate the new arrivals, those who are un-sure, other who are welcoming.

Charr's are fully "Beast",.. let aside that it is unlikely to choose from a Game like GW2, when SE does have a ton of Races down their Titles, they remind me of Ronso's. Like in the quote they did mention "Dragon blood" like.. well then there would be Gria's.

its still to early to say they havent made them a beast-like race.
a)shes completely covered by a mask and hood, we have no clue whats under there.
b)we cant see her hands or her lower body. potential for bestial qualities there too.
c)we dont even know if that is indeed the new playable race, it could just be a few of that race, where we only ever see a handful of them like with the padjal.

Considering that it seems to be using the hyur female torso, at the very least it's a demi-human race.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I was replying to a quote from a dev about something unrelated to the screenshot, namely:

Viera are quite popular around the world, so we're considering them. Personally, I would prefer something more beastly, so a new race's appearance may vary greatly depending on if you choose a male or a female.

I definitely don't think the individual in the screenshot is of a beast-type race. I'm leaning in favor of the people who think it's a mime (though I have no idea what a mime is in Final Fantasy).

As long as it does not have a tail to be doomed from the infamous tail clipping in most armors then it's all ok.
