Teaser of the next FFXIV Race[Spoilers]

I'm thinking more along the lines of Cleyran. The garbs that are being worn are indicative of living in a very sand stormy place. Much like the Cleyra living conditions.

The town of Cleyra is surrounded by a sandstorm, protecting them from harm. The sandstorm is powered by a one of the four fragments of a Summoning Jewel. The Cleyran people were originally Burmecians, but, following a disagreement over the Burmecians' taste for war, the Cleyrans distanced themselves from Burmecia. Which again is exactly what's taking place with this new race. They are distancing themselves once more from harms way.

Very good find! This might actually be the case and would make a lot of sense. It's true that we don't see a second horn protruding out. But still, it's weird that she stands like a female miqo'te. Unless S-E is simply giving her that idle animation. A lot of npc's around the maps have their own idle animation after all.

But at this point, I'm certain that this is a big tease to blue mage/Mime. Whatever name they'll go with.

I don't get this ridiculous Mime theories. Gogo has no traceable connection to Doma in FF6. Doma was home to the Samurai, Cyan Garamonde. And we're talking about Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, what possible mechanics would you give a Mime job here? Final Fantasy Mimes are just lulz free copy of last attack and sometimes allows for more cross-class commands it's too much of an empty class to fit into this game. Blue Mage honestly isn't much better, because there's no potential for actually learning skills off mobs because it has to as balanced and generic as every other class/job in this game.

Polls gave the consensus that a Viera-ish race was the next race they wanted to add eventually. Viera-ish, NOT Viera. I don't imagine they'll be playable in 2.2 but you need to introduce new races before you let people play them. There was also plenty of talk of the priority of adding a stealth/assassin class/job, and Yugiri looks enough like a Ninja to me.

Mime.. interesting thought and by the "shape" of the hidden Face that is might be possible:



But lets not forget that Mime is actually a Job and not a Race in most FF Games, Tactics has this lovely female Character as Mime tho. Looks quite similiar no? So it is not actually the Horns, which is part of the Gear.. its the Tactics Female Race which has those "low" backwards ears and a Face-Shape similiar whats looks to be hidden under the Mask.

So for now i would go with an Appearance-mix between that Mime Female-Char and Viera, BUT the actual Job shown can be straight Mime. Even if i am unsure about how to implement a Mime-like Job, also Blue-Mage or Ninja is quite possible.

Sorry, but you'd lose that bet. Yoshie already said no rabbit people. He said he thought male Viera would just look silly. The new race would possibly be human/mammal hybrid, but it WON'T be Viera.

I can't find the original live letter, but it's summarized here;

Another interesting teaser is new race. Probably you've heard some rumors before, and in fact the developer is considering Viera, the rabbit-like female race. What concerns the developer is whether players can accept Viera male, and they will probably "look into having a separate race for the male counterpart."

In chronological order:

Mammalian demi-beastmen proved to be the most desired new race, though I wonder if they received an unfair advantage because I dropped the name “Viera.” For some reason, reptilians are relatively popular among French players, at 18%. On the whole, races of mixed heritage are equally sought after across all regions.

Q: In the 3rd Players’ Poll, there was a question about new races and clans. What kind of race will be implemented and when? Also, will we see Viera or beastmen/lizardmen?
A: The Viera are extremely popular amongst our overseas players, so we’re really thinking hard about this one. We’d also been considering a dragon-blood tribe – something more beastman or reptilian, a direction that we haven’t really tried in a FINAL FANTASY before.I guess I was leaning towards what in Japan would be considered a Western design, but our North American players have also been pretty vocal in their requests for the Viera race. We would like to look into it. You can assume it would be for an expansion pack.

Q: What kind of new races are you considering adding, and will mixed races ever be introduced?
A: I don't think we'll have mixed races for a while.

If and when we implement additional races, I would like them to be different from what we have now. That said, the longer we wait, the more difficult it becomes for players to start over from scratch, even if they'd like to play as a new race, so we'll have to keep that in mind as well.

Viera are quite popular around the world, so we're considering them. Personally, I would prefer something more beastly, so a new race's appearance may vary greatly depending on if you choose a male or a female.
