I'm trying to help improve the game. You are allowed to view what I'm doing as negatively as you want to. There's tons of potential this game has to truly become amazing that won't surface if attention is not brought to it. So, sure. I'm attention whoring.

you are trying to improve it in the way you want it. i think the game is amazing you should really change what words you use because opinions aren't fact and how you view the game is just 1 way to see it and isn't the right way to see it.

You've finally reached that place where you're giving up, but that tiny shred of remaining optimism just refuses to die. And so you throw out your feedback one last, desperate time, hoping that it will be noticed instead of mysteriously vanishing.

I feel where you're coming from.

The OP is throwing his feedback up here one last time in the hopes that this game that he obviously likes, and wants to like even more, will live up to its potential.

OP, I understand.

The sea of negativity I'll continue to get is well deserved given the way I shoved all of this in people's faces, but I'm happy enough knowing that at least one person completely understands my intentions (to an uncanny extent even), so thank you.

Just letting you know what you said was appreciated.

it has nothing to do with shoving in peoples faces you have openly stated the only way is your way. whats the point of a discussion if no matter what we say your way is the only one? i love discussion what can be added or changed to 14 but when the retort to why your idea could be not so great the reply is your view is wrong and needs to change. isn't a discussion is just a one sided narrow minded view.

This statement was directly addressing a single person at a point where I was getting a little frustrated with their arguments.

I've never been great with words, but I do the best with them that I can. I never meant that as "my way is the only way".

What I really mean by what I said there was it's not a good thing to just defend something whist ignoring its flaws (which was something the person I was addressing was doing, if I recall correctly; possible misinterpretation on my part). I suggested they "take a step back and begin looking at things from different perspectives" because that's what should we should all do. Myself included. It was basically my way of saying be open-minded to the opinions of others. Which is something I try to, but admittedly fail to do at times.


EDIT2: What I said earlier in this thread is spoken from as objective position as I could take. The game currently has too many critical flaws in its design for it to be anywhere near as successful as it could and should be in the long run. I'm sorry to say that, but that's how I see it from a near (maybe; I won't deny my bias of opinion) objective point of view.

As long as the developers understand that the direction they're taking the game is not optimal for the continued success of it as time passes, I could care less the opinions people have of me or who manages to get them to listen.

there is nothing wrong with have a firm stance against something as long as you show you are willing to actually discuss it and not just spout nonsense.

OP I think you are making a mistake almost every mmo player makes. You're focusing to much on one game. There are tons of great games to play and there are great things and bad things about each one. Maybe you should take a break from this game and give them time to further develop it and see if some of the improvements are things you like.

I hope the devs do read the opinions on the forums and who knows maybe they will agree with your suggestions.

Good advice to a point. I'm not the OP, but I share just about all of his opinions.

I have to say, I played FFXI exclusively for 7 years and I was never bored. I quit FFXI when it went in the linear gear direction and added item levels. It is entirely possible to create a game that doesn't leave you feeling bored, SE has done it previously. ARR has SO MUCH potential for flexibility and innovation, but they're just not seeing it and from everything we've been given with regard to the direction of the game, that doesn't look like it's going to change, ever.

Please don't read this like I'm angry, it looks like I'm angry, and if I am, it's not at you, it's at the lost potential for the game. I'm more angrily disappointed than anything ><

I'm glad you're still around the forums providing your opinion. I've come across a bunch of your posts by now. I wish I could do the same, but I don't have it in me anymore to create another detailed and constructive criticism when the good amount I've done already go largely ignored.

My "List Your Concerns" thread was the best shot I could give. That's why I don't post as often anymore. This is pretty much a last ditch effort.

Well, I'm also slowly fading away from the forums. Those of us that would like to see more depth to the game are being bullied away and told to quit or just laughed at. *shrug* I'm angrily disappointed. FFXI went linear, and that no longer appealed to me, but hey, it was ok because ARR was coming out. Then ARR came out and after the first few months of fun, I realized that the game offered no real depth. The fun I was having came from nostalgia and rediscovering the world. When I realized that crafting was of no use anymore, and that everything content wise was now an instanced dungeon grind, I got angry.

Now I'm left with close to 100 days left on my sub, and no desire to log in and do anything. I've had an MMO to play (with my husband, since we met via FFXI) for the past 8+ years and I really enjoyed having a community game. I've tried WoW, and got impressions from friends on other MMO's but none of them appeal to me and I don't know where to go next. Perhaps the days of having an MMO are now gone. *sigh*
