    Dem slippery slope!

It seems you never played Final fantasy.... those games would not exist if people and developers thought like you do.

Lets compare FFXI, since its a FF MMO. in the 8 yrs i played, i never seen full blm dps for any mobs, unless its one of those manaburn pt blm makes themselves, similar to how summoners make astral burn pt or melee makes TP burn pt.

There were monsters in ffxi where the monsters only take increased magic damage when melee perform skillchain(TP chain) to lower its elemental affinity. cause the need for mixed classes. If i recall, in a 6 man party set up, 1 tank, 1 healer, 4 dps(1 support).. i almost never seen 2 black mages.

The monsters dont always have elemental weakness, even if they do, their weakness does not differentiate much. Dont forget, some monsters maybe have weaker elemental affinity, but they also might have 2nd status such as magic damage reduction, or reflect.. there are many factors to look at other than "omg ifrit weak to water, throw blm at it!"

It seems you didn't watch the live letters or read the letters from producer. Yoshi-P said that is the reason: he did not want certain jobs to be excluded because of elemental weakness.
